  That's true and you got a good point. Maybe I'm just jaded at all the proprietary stuff, especially when there's a world class open source alternative available. If it were the exact same thing but with OPUS instead of LC3 I'd probably cheer.

  Seems like another propietary codec from Frauenhofer that phone and headset producers can pay licencing fees for. From the few tidbits of actual reviews and tech specs, it seems the BT SIG had to use an outdated version of OPUS and misconfigure it to have a fighting chance when it came to audio quality comparisons.

  And why a "plus"-version? Seems like it's a native extension to the codec. So people are literally buying a gimped product if they get the standard pack?

  I got excited for this until I understood what it was. Thanks for sharing though.

  It's based on a pseudonym Joe used, "Peter Henderson" from Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series. In those books, Peter Henderson is a Soviet/Russian spy who gets found out by the CIA and started working as a double agent.

  Good effort from the people distributing The Irish Light, but this isn't The Irish Times or have any relations with that newspaper. From what I've gathered from the Irish Light's own newspaper this is a crowd-funded, private publication distributed by volunteers more by activism than subscription.

  This particular issue is also downloadable from https://irishlightpaper.com/, some interesting stories in there for sure.
