If you’re from the west coast of the US that seems to be a more West Coast thing. I recently went to Chicago and was amazed at how clean it was. The Lyft driver told me it was the cleanest city in the country (and possibly the world since he grew up outside of the states) but I wasn’t prepared for it. I walked everywhere in the city and there just wasn’t a single piece of trash anywhere. We actively looked too.

These days I’m usually against the death penalty, and I know it seems a bit harsh to advocate for this… but people entering in an exit door should be absolutely blasted with an Anti Aircraft gun (thanks Kim Jong Un for the idea!). It absolutely rustles my jimmies.

I completely agree that a base of people who are looking to do things for free or cheap will have a harder time with brand deals for goods for sure. That’s why I use PDS debt. It helps me better understand where I’m spending money and how I can cut costs.
I’m sure there’s a crossover too. There’s also clothing exchanges like Freestyle (in my area) that have a large presence that I could see advertising through influencers. Even though they’re trying to “consume less” they still are a market. They just might not be as likely to spend more openly.
- Comment on Why is the US not considered a third world country? 5 months ago:
The country most famous for the bidet trend is France and currently swimming in the Seine is still looking impossible. If my infrastructure is so shitty and 3rd world here at least my lakes, rivers and water ways are all clean enough for me to use.
Every country has its problems, but calling the US 3rd world is just your brain being full of straight negative propaganda. Simultaneously not every French River is unusable or every country filled with Bidets an actual mark of their progress. Go experience a country first before just talking shit.
Also, stable government?? Literally our biggest problem is that our government has been so stable that it has changed for 240 years.

Maybe a company that has (mostly) made consoles isn’t exactly playing games or has people on staff on the executive level that play(ed) on a PC. I’m 30 and outside of a brief time I tried to play on a PC I’ve pretty much been console my entire life. My first gaming experiences were all on console. It’s completely logical for a company to make a move like this when they have specialized in one area for a time.

There’s for sure something about those fat bass lines and those chord holds that just tickles the back of my brain while I’m listening to it. The album is like a movie within a movie. The opening of “The Grid” is beyond incredible. It sets a tone and it’s perfect.

Justice is basically the embodiment at this point of French House (which Daft Punk basically started). Justice’s Cross album is iconic and is probably one of the best early 2000s electronic albums.
Skrillex is incredibly talented. Far more than the mid 2000s wub-wub dubstep he produced. He’s definitely the biggest name in production and his talent continues to expand. His recent work with Four tet shows an expansion of his sound beyond typical hard style, dubstep, and screamo/metal. He’s still judged a lot for his early break through work, but those albums were responsible for bringing EDM to the masses. For better or worse.
DeadMau5 is the biggest asshole in EDM and he loves that. I think his ability to identify when to use sounds and how to properly play with them could lend to a more musical approach to the next Tron. Where Skrillex would have ideas from four yet using delicate electronic ambiance, deadmau5 would focus on lengthy chords to carry a scene. Something that the DP Tron album definitely had. Lots of chords left just sort of openly playing as the backdrop during whole movie scenes.
I say all this as I suspect that Disney may want another electronic artist to really create that sound. These are the names I would throw out in a meeting, but there’s more interesting names out there like Four Tet, ATTLAS, or even an Odesza for something weirder.

The movie was called “Polar” and it was an early Netflix movie (2015). The movie was decent. Considering it was early into Netflix’s expansion into making originals.

Not to mention that he’s basically the whole reason that people mostly listen to electronic music now, or use electronic music as the background music to vocals. He’s one of the biggest producers, and especially after he dipped off making new music for a decade and just basically travelled around doing warehouse shows. He’s honed the electronic music craft for sure. I just don’t know if he can do sound scape music like Daft Punk did. It’s why I threw DeadMau5 out there. He’s done one movie already (possibly more?) and he’s also iconic. I just find the same sound scape wall to be hit.
- Comment on Jeff Bridges Returns For "TRON: Ares" - Dark Horizons 7 months ago:
Justice is the closest 1:1 of Daft Punk in all of Electronic Music. Skrillex is arguably more versatile musically than Daft Punk and is credited with bringing electronic music main stream. Whether you like it or not those are two absolutely MASSIVE names.
Unless you hate the last Tron music sound track… which is iconic and one of the best movie sound tracks of all time.
- Comment on Jeff Bridges Returns For "TRON: Ares" - Dark Horizons 7 months ago:
I’ve been thinking the same. I could see big names like Justice or DeadMau5 being tossed out there if they wanted to maintain the electronic feel and use a big act. It’s gonna be hard to top Daft Punk…
I also think Skrillex could be on that list of potential Electronic artists.

I don’t know where you live, or what reality you’re choosing to live in, but that’s just such a bad take. I live in liberal ass California right in the thick of it. I have plenty of black and white (among others) friends, fat friends, and gay friends. The only thing I’ve ever had some things around word choice is when someone identifies as a different gender. Even then I’ve called people by their wrong gender and they’ve politely corrected me and I change it.

If it’s because you’ve had some dumbass BYOD policy then that’s a you problem. I always tell my users to not put company policies on their private devices. On company devices, and especially government, I want my capacity to control my domain better.
- Comment on Dual booting with chrome OS while retaining school content: is it possible? 11 months ago:
It wipes data, it’s often not worth it (usually CBs for k12 are 16gb rom). When I managed my admin console I ran Linux on a CB to help resolve an issue we had with Zoom due to device limitations, but Linux at the time was still crippled by no correct access to microphone, which may have since changed. It’s a school device, just leave it be. You’re going to come up on state standardized testing time which means they’ll likely lock down your updates to prevent any further ones from applying. Plus you’ll most likely create a situation where the device will have to be power washed and reset again to comply with secure browsers.
Most likely developer mode was left open as certain programming classes required it to be open in order to run some interface I can’t remember.

Because in 2022 with an 840 credit score I got .99% financing and 5k off MSRP. Which NO ONE was offering. Everyone wanted 5-10k if not more OVER sticker. Plus at the time there was only three trucks with front and rear lockers and only two with factory winches. Of which FCA/Stelantis made both. I needed those features due to my liking to go far out into the middle of nowhere without anyone else but my wife and I. I don’t want us stuck somewhere (not that I’m going to put us into those situations purposefully) so I wanted every goody available to get unstuck if push comes to shove.
Plus it’s not like the alternatives are much better now. The 5.3/6.2 from GM with DFM has problems and fails quickly, the 6.2 from Ford is OK and I haven’t heard of many problems with the 7.2 Godzilla. That said the 10 speed trans from them is problematic allegedly and the Ram has the ZF 8 speed which is both bullet proof and also readily available since BMW and VW/Audi also use it. Toyota only had the 5.7 at the time which was thirsty and old. I wanted the new Tundra, but unfortunately I knew it would be years before I could get one easily and for a reasonable cost. Now for my current truck I don’t intend to replace it hopefully ever. It gets 7k oil changes on synthetic and I take care of the paint and ceramic coat it to prevent the oxidation problems. Hemi tick is present, but it’s not detrimental. If the engine blows the good news is that every recruit that financed a 392 crashed them within months which means there’s good motors out there with low miles if I need a new one and they’re relatively cheap and easy to replace myself.
- Comment on The way this is spelled out really irks me. 11 months ago:
Dudes that say “hemi” still are stuck in the past and stupid. I say this as someone who owns and drives a Ram 2500 “Hemi” (don’t worry, no DUIs). It’s a marketing term at this point that dumb grunts (and I don’t just mean in the military) buy into because they feel special. It’s like dudes that say they drive a Cummins or Power Stroke (yes all of these are as erotic as they sound). It’s an engine. At the end of the day it’s kind of a crappy one too. Most Dodge Hemi’s have what’s known as Hemi-tick that is this sort of constant clicking on idle, they’re incredibly inefficient, they make mediocre power compared to their competition and the reliability on them is questionable at best. Overall good maintenance will keep these motors working fine and running for a long time, but the paint on every Ram will fade and chip, the clear coat will crap out, and the interior will eventually start to rattle and fall apart faster than the competition. 10/10 vehicles.

I just ordered a giant thing of cologne from Costco the other day and when it came in I opened the box and said “I love you Costco” as I did it. I looked at my wife and told her Idiocracy was right. I mean, it always has been, but I’m glad Costco loves me too.
For reference, this is not an ad for Costco, or Idiocracy. Although you should totally watch the movie and membership does have its perks. Plus $1.50 hotdogs.

Could their comment be a highly thoughtful and extrapolation on the current state of affairs regarding search engines and the rise of free to use products where the consumer is the product? Or is the comment just an ad because obviously anything mentioning a brand is immediately an ad with no other thought put into it.
Buddy, companies trying to build up user base aren’t exactly going to push for it in comment sections of a small pocket of the internet. They’ll spend their ad dollars on targeted FB and Reddit ads or buy airtime on new shows to talk about the dangers of data privacy and how Google is selling you out.

Correct, however a driver with more skill also has more capacity for driving longer. I don’t think 250 miles (the original point of this whole thread) is long. 750 miles on the other hand… is. I could easily drive 750 miles with no problem. Get to my location, party for several hours and then finally sleep. I know this because I do it about once a year with family. Most people might not be able to go that long. Because they’re not a “skilled driver.” They haven’t built up capacity to understand. Even friends and family of mine when they drive aren’t doing the same things I’m doing. Listening to the car, hearing the inputs and feeling the inputs, monitoring grip levels, ensuring adequate room between other vehicles to ensure accidents can’t happen due to proximity. There’s ways to also lessen mental exhaustion as I mentioned. My car keeping me in the lane and keeping speed automatically for me. Camera systems to watch out for people and other cars with collision avoidance, not to mention another passenger as a set of eyes. A skilled driver would also know where there limit is. I found mine to be around mile 850~ I know this because as I was driving across country rushing back home at night that I didn’t feel I was performing at the level I needed to in order to safely operate a vehicle. No one else on the road for miles, but I switched drivers with my wife who I made nap as I knew I couldn’t do the whole 1000 miles needed in one go. That’s also the difference in skill. Knowing you’ll need assistance and making sure it’s in place when you do. Like having a hotel booked at 700 miles (or whatever mile marker a driver can safely drive) or making other stops as needed.
I’d be interested to see a study on it, but I’d wager that Americans and Canadians can drive for longer than their European/Asian counterparts. Just due to the “training” we have of driving longer distances more frequently.
- Comment on A robot just swapped my electric car's battery 1 year ago:
Skill is having a larger capacity until mental/physical exhaustion. If someone runs every day they’re a skilled runner. Their capacity to run is greater than mine because they aren’t as quick to become exhausted. The same is true for the brain.
- Comment on A robot just swapped my electric car's battery 1 year ago:
Evidence suggests lots of things. There’s always outliers and people who have different skill sets for different things. That doesn’t invalidate the data and certainly I agree that many people are shitty at driving. The original comment was about people only going 250 miles and needing to rest, which I don’t find true. I drove the salt flats. As I got tired my wife and switched driving since the scenery was so… flat. Usually the mountainous driving I do keeps me awake since I need to be actively paying attention or I’d die.
- Comment on A robot just swapped my electric car's battery 1 year ago:
My wife doesn’t hate it; just took a while to adjust to it. I don’t rationalize being tired and driving because I don’t do it. When I’ve been actually tired from driving I pull over at a rest stop and stretch or sleep. It’s ok though, I’m sure my 15 years of perfect driving (about 20k miles a year) without even being pulled over or ticketed means I’m a shitty driver. 👉(👁 ͜ʖ👁)👉

That would explain all the people I’ve definitely hit on the road.
- Comment on A robot just swapped my electric car's battery 1 year ago:
I can assure you whatever test you want I could pass with flying colors and beyond, and so could most most drivers. That said, my car also drives itself on the highway for the most part and gives me a massage while I’m driving. So I sort of have an additional cheat code for driving. Even still my previous car for daily use was a manual Evo X and I took that all over the PNW and drove it fine for hours on end. Driving is taxing, but most people can usually go about 4-6 hours of constant driving, especially if you have someone in the car to talk with.
- Comment on A robot just swapped my electric car's battery 1 year ago:
🤔 most of us in my family LOVE driving. Usually when we even needed to think/decompress or just have fun we would hop in a car and just drive. So I’m definitely more in a minority on that front. I suspect we’re just “drivers” compared to others. I just think more people can go more than 250 miles without stopping. It probably also helps that 3 of 4 of us have some level of adhd (medical diag). I think for us driving gives our monkey brain something to do. Like meditation, but worse for the environment. 😅
- Comment on A robot just swapped my electric car's battery 1 year ago:
My wife thinks I’m insane, but my whole family is built where we would drive 10+ hours (710miles~) a couple times a year with only 1 stop at mile like 500 for fuel and a snack. Otherwise we’d just keep going. Some people don’t need a break for a LOOOONNNNGGGG time when driving. Of my friend group (20th people) on road trips only 2/3 need stops every so often. Even my wife has adjusted to my driving nature.
