I looked for more, but it was hard to find any semblance of the original. It is way harder to find content for this kind of site than I thought it would be. So many fakes, India seems to love skit versions because there are a ton of them. I have a new found respect for the posters on the old site that posted good ones. Any hints on where to find some or post some if you want would be great.

I was just talking about this with my partner. A lot of minority groups are getting attacked online from every angle, I understand why they may take it too far or not far enough sometimes. Being a mod sucks donkey balls, you couldn’t pay me to do it for anything but a very small niche field. I’ll give them a free pass every now and then. It’s not like it’s changing the world with one comment being seen or not.
- Comment on [deleted] 11 months ago:
Thanks, that’s very helpful. That’s a pretty intense way for them to take it, but ig if I squint really, really hard I can sort of understand. I’ll let it go.

Lol, that’s a good problem to have when dealing with the IRS.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I don’t mind paying a small amount if they come back in a timely manner. They have been so amazing to work with. We owed a huge amount and they negotiated with us to pay it down. So if we have to pay $100 more now and then, I’ll let them spend that time working with people who need it.
Note: If you owe a large amount, don’t ignore it. They will usually work with you if you contact them early to pay it in installments. If you don’t think you can pay ever, tell them. You’ll still owe it, but communicating is better than freezing and ignoring.
- Comment on Tax time 11 months ago:
They really do keep it a secret. I’ve gotten bills saying I don’t owe anything more and then bill me for $100 later. I don’t understand, but just pay it. It’s where the healthcare system learned their math.

Right, I think you’re correct in what you said, but this thread is also propaganda in that it’s trying to sow division against Lemmy. Lemmy is going to get hit hard during the elections in the US and the trials of our former president because they can’t control the narrative as easily here. No one really cares if people stay, there are no advertisers to cater to, and you can’t troll (at least on lemmy.world). They’re trying to stoke everyone into being their worst selves so people leave or feel pushed out. It’s a solid propaganda technique against lemmy. I’m agreeing with you but adding on to it, but I also thought that’s what you meant.

This thread is to sow division, I think that’s what morphballgannon was saying.

Who are the people who are communist? Are you talking about a specific instance?
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
I like tildes and lurk there a lot, but I don’t like commenting. It’s a solid place, imo.

It’s a combo of both socialism and capitalism by combining the two.
According to the socialist view, individuals do not live or work in isolation but live in cooperation with one another. Furthermore, everything that people produce is in some sense a social product, and everyone who contributes to the production of a good is entitled to a share in it. Society as a whole, therefore, should own or at least control property for the benefit of all its members.
This conviction puts socialism in opposition to capitalism, which is based on private ownership of the means of production and allows individual choices in a free market to determine how goods and services are distributed.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
How do you feel about Bernie Sanders where it’s a socialist democracy with capitalism? So medicaid, universal healthcare, unemployment, etc., are there and should be expanded to cover everyone?
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
Internet points matter even less here, I’m not sure why anyone would care except to maybe look at why they’re downvoting. I usually keep them up unless I’ve changed my mind because of it.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
What exactly is a far left viewpoint?
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
So you’re saying that Russia and Chinese authoritarianism is far left?
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
Where are you going?
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
Welcome to Lemmy, where you’ll see real and thoughtful conversations. I’m not being sarcastic, I think it’s obvious in this thread. If you have questions, you’ll see Lemmy really shine.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
Again, what exactly is the far left? What are their belief systems? Do they believe everyone should have a fair shot in life? Do they believe that our poorest should be taken care of? What exactly are you referring to?
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
Isn’t that the same everywhere? Yes, there are bots here, but I think overrun is a pretty strong word.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
The people who post that they don’t like certain products or services are getting trolled by the companies they’re being negative about . It was far worse on Reddit, almost abusive, but I have seen it more often than I’d like. I hate to call them trolls since they’re doing it for serious business instead of laugh, is there a better word for it? Maybe PRolls?

I didn’t mean to discount that experience. My parents were shitty sometimes but they really did love us, I know that’s not always the case.
- Comment on Circle of life 1 year ago:
But, in general, the direction is forward.
I think that’s what I’m saying, I thought it would always go forward. But as you say, it’s “in general,” I wasn’t prepared for the 4 steps back.
- Comment on Circle of life 1 year ago:
Those are all great points, but being young and naive, I didn’t think we the people would actually let all of the backwards things happen. I agree about the real equality. Is this a human thing to take everything for granted, go backwards and then have hope to change it to a place where we’ll take it for granted again? When we look at the MIddle East, I kind of think it is. But it can be a super quick process or a slow process, depending on what you’re born into.

I don’t have kids but a lot of my friends do, I have hope for that generation of kids.
- Comment on Circle of life 1 year ago:
I am optimistic that each generation will get better,
I thought this too but then it didn’t in a lot of ways and did in some. If we do our best and try to spread that to our kids and our circles, that’s the only way. I never in a million years thought we would go so far backwards on so many issues like civil rights, abortion and worker’s rights. I know it would be a roller coaster but I didn’t think the dips would be that far down.
- Comment on Circle of life 1 year ago:
I think about this a lot actually. That whole new kind of fucked up shows us that our parents had good intentions, they thought they were doing better.

the bosses don’t care about commercial real estate, either.
That depends on how high up you go, the upper bosses certainly do care about real estate. There’s a reason that all of the leases are expiring and everyone is being required to come in at the same time.

Um, this isn’t great:
Visceral leishmaniasis is usually caused by the species L. donovani and L. infantum. The disease can cause fever, weight loss, anemia, and spleen and liver enlargement, and it’s fatal in more than 95% of cases that aren’t treated. In their presentation, the researchers cautioned that U.S. sand fly populations could be picking up L. infantum by feeding on imported dogs that carry the parasite.
