- Comment on Why Some Designs Are Impossible to Improve: Quintessence 7 months ago:
There are multiple paperclip designs, and I even use one of them (besides the "normal" one). But when I looked it up I found it was from 1902... It holds many more pages, tho.

That's good feedback, thanks!

Was the treatment full body, once every three months? I've thought about this for about 15 years but it seemed like it would take forever. Probably less than 15 years tho... This would be amazing.
- Comment on What side do you open a banana from? 8 months ago:
From the stop light side.
- Comment on Thanks AT&T! 8 months ago:
Also same. I haven't had anything to do with them since 2013 but they still somehow sent me an email. Not sure it is worth following up in, tho.
- Comment on How my morning is going... 8 months ago:
Hmm dang I got an email from ATT about this, and the last I had them was for a landline in 2013... Can't believe they keep data for this long.
- Comment on Putting on your seatbelt and not using your phone while driving is now considered a "challenge"? 8 months ago:
In my mind, it is a challenge when I have to navigate a touch screen to change the heat setting on this new work vehicle 🤨
- Comment on Plastic tea bags 9 months ago:
My supplier also ships the looseleaf in bags that are supposedly back yard compostable. Lots of options for loose leaf, better tea maybe, too.
- Comment on What It’s Like to Staff the Home of a Billionaire 9 months ago:
I worked for a billionaire once, on a ranch doing housekeeping. I didn't do work on their house normally, but reflecting after reading this, and them being "left leaning," they didn't have any idea of humanity. For me, the job was fine, but I can see now that I was just a number at best.

I can't believe this King of Kong dude is still around, holy cow what a butt.
- Comment on How does a SO feel different from a very good friend? 11 months ago:
I'm not sure I have much to add here other then a little experience. I've had a date tell me "there's nothing there" and realized later that they wanted more than a friend. I am fairly old and have realized that I may not have much to give, romantically. That's fine! But you have to find someone who wants that, also. Myself, I am not really a dater. But if you can see that some people want something more than a friend, more than a friend and sex, you may find where you fit in. I am still working on that. Not easy, but I am also pretty happy on my own. It is good, and healthy, to work on you, and this post is part of that I think. Be well!
- Comment on Amazon pricing makes no sense. 11 months ago:
As another US-based mail order tea drinker, you're likely going to have to stop using Amazon. There are some domestic sources, and some international that ship here. Will it be cheaper? No. And you may have to try a somewhat different brew. But you shouldn't face these problems and there are some great teas to be had 😋
There are a few tea forums on different instances but they're pretty dead. One or two have sourcing options, tho! I've used stash for a long time, but I drink loose leaf. Not sure about their bagged. I've heard Arbor is good, too, but haven't tried them.
- Comment on Which is less religious: Xmas or Christmas? 11 months ago:
I would argue that in some ways, coopting these words and the nonreligious traditions would be excellent because it removes power from "them."
- Comment on Which is less religious: Xmas or Christmas? 11 months ago:
For every religious holiday, there is an equal and opposite secular holiday.
- Comment on If you work for a gig app in the US they make you go thru this charade when doing taxes where you're treated and taxed as an independent business owner. joke country 11 months ago:
I am assuming you are dealing with 1099 income. As someone who had that 15+ years ago and didn't understand some things, I really hope you understood while earning that you have to pay both your portion of Social Security, and your "employer" would pay since you are your employer (even tho it's BS in this case). I didn't and owed a huge amount of money. Over US$3k. And I was making $10/hr so that was a lot. I had to get another job to pay it. I hope you'll be ok and are happy with what you do!

That website is lame. You can reject cookies, but then it just tells you you they are required. THAT is mildly infuriating, not trying some minor visual tricks to hide an antenna.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
The only thing that is infuriating about this is that it stands up the same way I do when I first wake up.
- Comment on Entertainment Sector Unites to Oppose European Law That Would Ban Geo-Blocking 1 year ago:
I would think that more markets would mean more money, no? I don't see how this could ever be good for them, but we learned in another post that Cocoon is out of print in USA but available in UK.

- Comment on What is the best way to clean burnt-on splatters from a chrome oven without damaging the chrome? 1 year ago:
What about automotive chrome cleaner? Some of those products are supposed to break down stuff that has been baked on at exhaust temps, far above any oven or stove surface.

I'm in the US and a lot of quality, locally made tortillas come in bags with a twist tie. I just fold/roll them over and put them in the cabinet. I also eat about three or four a day, they are my bread.

- Comment on Where did the abbreviation "w/" for "with" come from? 1 year ago:
Thanks! A lot of latin learning in this thread!
- Comment on Where did the abbreviation "w/" for "with" come from? 1 year ago:
I assume it is latin (which I don't know) but essentially yes. I think of them as con and sin.
- Comment on Where did the abbreviation "w/" for "with" come from? 1 year ago:
I use c̅ for with and s̅ for without, these may make more sense for you depending on your native tongue. They are medical shorthand.
- Comment on What happens when people die with metal on or on them? 1 year ago:
Indeed it is! I apologize for leaving this out, it is just the first of the four short stories; The Langoliers. Much shorter!
- Comment on What happens when people die with metal on or on them? 1 year ago:
Not reallly and answer, but there is a Stephen King short story and movie where a plane goes thru a time warp, and only the people who are asleep survive. The other people are gone entirely, except for the metal things they were wearing or had in them.

- Comment on What game did you find in a bargain bin that turned out to be awesome? For me it was Z by Bitmap Brothers which I got at Zellers for $0.47 1 year ago:
I don't remember the price, and Mom almost certainly paid for it, but Faxanadu. First game I ever beat, got an emulator and soufh it out on a rom when those came out, and most recently played it at an arcade that had a bunch of older games loaded onto a "TV" with real controllers. Hadn't used that kind of controller for a long time.
- Comment on Why are wrong numbers so common in the US? 1 year ago:
It used to be in-between uncommon and common.. maybe a few times per year? Probably more common for people working in locations requiring an employee to find a replacement of they needed a shift off, and therefor consulting a list of numbers they dial manually. Even if we did save numbers, our world was smaller and we might save someone as Sue. But then we meet another Sue at a party at Doug's house, so we save them as Sue from Doug's. But then the first Sue starts dating Doug.
