Yeah, I'd think outside of movie-style moments it's not something that makes sense 99.9% of the time, I just thought it was an interesting claim. It would have been more interesting if it were true. 😁

I did find a great many links to this article, but so far nothing to support that they do it regularly.

My last epson experience was about 5 years ago, so they may have gone downhill, appreciate the update. I had 2 in a row and both were good with Linux support and general lack of fussiness.
- Comment on HP sued (again) for blocking third-party ink from printers, accused of monopoly 11 months ago:
OK man. Doesn't bother me if you don't buy one. This is the longest I've kept a printer without throwing it away in disgust in a long time. Companies like to brand things with catchy names. shrug
- Comment on HP sued (again) for blocking third-party ink from printers, accused of monopoly 11 months ago:
Thirded. Get an Brother inkvestment model. No bullshit, it just does your bidding, like a printer should. And the ink lasts a very long time.
Yes, everyone says get a B&W laser printer. If that fits your needs do so. We have kids that want or need to print in color fairly often, and color laser was out of the question last time we purchased.
Brother is the now only brand I look at after decades of buying printers. If absolutely forced not to buy Brother, I'd go with Epson. I used to love Canon, but each model started incorporating more and more bullshit, and I found their ink to be both expensive and short lived. HP is the king of printer bullshit, but Canon seems to want to sit on their court in recent years.

Wow that's going to be a rabbit hole. How amazing. The first one I watched was the rocket skateboard. This man is going to die doing what he loves. The rocket sleigh was pretty insane too. Coolest new thing I've seen in a long time. Thanks for saying who it was.

I actually really do like Cheddar in those scenarios sometimes, but I agree with you that it doesn't melt as nicely. 🙂

I think by Good American cheese they meant something more like this:
https://www.landolakes.com/products/cheese/deli-american/
It is very much a different thing than Kraft Singles, you can get however much or little of it (or various competitors) you want anyplace that has deli meats, and the per-pound cost is not that much more, last I checked.
Although some kinds of cheddar might be made in the US, I don't think Vermont Cheddar is what anyone usually has in mind when they say "Deli American Cheese."
I've had no problem getting a good melt on burgers with "good" American, FWIW.

The current state of affairs is the justification employers use for continuing to test and discipline folks for usage even in legal or medically legal states. It's also the justification banks use for not allowing dispensaries to use their services.

I was going to reference Dr. Manhattan but I'm not familiar enough with the comic to be sure I have the right interpretation of his character. I've only seen the movie and the series.

I think you'd wind up losing the ability to have meaningful relationships with your loved ones and others in your life, as your raw intelligence pushed you towards a sort of hyper-rationality. Maybe you'd also stop caring about that. But chances are your loved ones wouldn't.
I'd proceed cautiously. Nudge it up, give some time to see how your life changes as a result. Maybe do some journaling. A couple weeks or months later, nudge it up again, etc. That way you can get some metrics regarding how its impacting your life and make the decision to stop if you think things are heading the wrong way.
Also something something Lawnmower Man and something something Flowers for Algernon.

- Comment on Does the USPS, FedEx and UPS give a crap about weed shipments since Hemp sprayed with th same terpenes and looks the same as weed has been shipped legally for 9 years now? 1 year ago:
I'd guess the number of packages that potentially smell like weed is pretty insane these days.
So the USPS, who took 3 weeks to send my priority mail package (containing no weed) about 350 miles, is going to flag all those packages (or even a worthwhile fraction of them), set them aside, get a warrant, open them, and then what?
First, they'll be wrong some of the time because it's jackasses sending delta8 hemp or whatnot.
Meanwhile they've added another complication to their already clearly shit scheduling and routing process, and they've done all this to enforce drug laws, which is not even a component of their purpose as an organization?
Don't ask don't tell makes much more sense, and I'm willing to bet that except in egregious cases where someone tries to send a pallet of weed or something, that's what they every shipping company does, except the occasional try-hard to pulls the alarm on something that smells funny the first time, then gets told to stop wasting everyone's time.
We're on the cusp of becoming post-prohibition with weed nationally. There is literally no upside to USPS or any shipping organization proactively looking for random weed shipments in packages.

You really need to give the first season or two some lenience. Don't skip it. Just recognize that as others have said it takes awhile to find its voice, and IMO for some of the actors to grow into their characters.
Just like Riker, you need to be patient until Sisko grows his beard.

Doesn't detract from the point whatsoever. Exactly what the Linux fanboys were always made fun of for is what's happening. It's heading exactly where Stallman has always warned.

- Comment on Harry Potter actor Sir Michael Gambon dies aged 82 1 year ago:
I agree, that's true. But when you are taking over in a role from another actor who was beloved in that role, even if you are determined to make it your own, and even if you are Michael Gambon, it seems rather careless and unprofessional not to familiarize yourself with that material.
- Comment on Harry Potter actor Sir Michael Gambon dies aged 82 1 year ago:
I generally respect Michael Gambon and am sad to hear of his passing, but personally I thought he was a horrible Dumbledore in comparison to Harris. His general manner was a stark contrast in Prisoner of Azkaban, and his treatment of Harry in Goblet of Fire was very unDumbledore IMO, and whatever might have been excused regarding differences in style was somewhat destroyed when he said he'd never even read the books in prep for the role.

By the final movies I found him passable, and I will go to my grave believing it's because he didn't understand the character well enough for the first couple, and by the end he did.
