  Part of it, I’m sure, is that Thomas has babyface. Part of it, too, is that people don’t smoke cigarettes, or drink as much as they used to, or generally live as hard of lives. Living through the 2000s, for example, isn’t really as complicated perhaps, or troubling, as living through the Great Depression and World War II and the Cold War.
