there’s plenty of reason to hate it but, to be absolutely clear, paid reddit posts are rarely conspiracy. that is a very popular method on reddit specifically. that isn’t to say that “marathon devs definitely paid people to post on reddit” etc. just to say, it’s a little difficult to immediately dismiss that as a concept when it’s so fucking common on reddit.
- Comment on Pragmata's newly revealed New York stage was painstakingly made by human developers to look "AI generated," according to director - AUTOMATON WEST 5 days ago:
well that certainly doesn’t fit with my snarky little quip now does it… /s
i suppose it’ll be up to execution, if done well i think that would make for an interesting experience. it’s amazing how quickly we’ve reached such AI fatigue, i love to see it

the downvotes… i just miss how much fun the Forza Horizon series used to be, it’s not like there aren’t reasons to dislike it. gamers are fucking weird
- Comment on Pragmata's newly revealed New York stage was painstakingly made by human developers to look "AI generated," according to director - AUTOMATON WEST 5 days ago:
either someone using the worst possible excuse they could think of bc they care that little, or a monumental waste of energy and human effort because why in gods name would you make something look sloppy and soulless on purpose

i wish these games were good:(
- Comment on "Departures are necessary," Crystal Dynamics say as they yet again lay off Tomb Raider staff, but they're "fully committed" to the reboot and sequel 1 week ago:
at this point, human beings in the games industry that aren’t VC or executives are fully devalued. i think that’s as good of a sign as ever to ditch AAA altogether and put your talents to much greater use with indie studios.

from what i recall which may be wrong, the only people of the original subnautica team that were fired were the original 3 founders of the team. the rest of the team is in tact i believe
- Comment on Developers Were Left in the Dark About DLSS 5 1 week ago:
no corporation under capitalism, especially a multibillion dollar one like CAPCOM, is “Anti-AI.” GenAI is a get out of jail free card for doing what the games industry has done for years now, pushing more bloated, buggier, and blurrier games while charging more for it. it’s also great for devaluing human labour. even if it can’t replace it, doesn’t matter, that’s not the point. you lay off thousands of people, “replace their jobs with AI” and then when that inevitably doesn’t work you hire humans again for worse benefits and pay. this is enshittification, and it’s the natural process of capitalism.

i still remember this game having AI Generated assets. that’s not exactly something i can look past. how ironic that the devs were taking an environmentalists angle for the first game, now we’re here

then don’t use AI. it’s easier than you think
- Comment on Lutris now being built with Claude AI, developer decides to hide it after backlash 2 weeks ago:
if you’re going to stoop so low as to use fucking AI have the decency to show it so people with actual standards know to avoid it. but to be fair, a cat n mouse game of whether it was used or not would make me avoid it anyway
- Comment on Fallout: New Vegas Remaster Hopes Go Into Overdrive as Support Studio Drops Tease 3 weeks ago:
if it’s just gonna be another DLSS and TAA smearfest that needs framegen to even appear optimized they can keep it as far as i’m concerned

i remember pointing out that this would happen in a couple places and ppl said i was just being negative. like a live service skate game is a dead in the water idea but ppl were so starved for skate content they just didn’t listen to sense. look where they are now

piracy is always justified
- Comment on Saying that hardware price increase is good cause it forces the devs to optimize is not as good as it seems. 5 weeks ago:
the way games are going now is the way games have BEEN going. capitalism’s only purpose is infinite growth at any and all expense. this is what that looks like for gaming, bigger bigger bigger while bandaging it up with TAA and framegen and DLSS. when this house of cards tumbles, i know i will capitalise on it by not investing in the same mistakes again. but, i can only really hope that others do the same.
- Comment on Video game romances need to evolve beyond lore dumps 5 weeks ago:
as an ace person we need less romance in games period. or at least the fucking ability to opt out, it’s always gooner shit anyway
- Comment on Why are we not getting stress relief games where we take our stresses out on normal people? 5 weeks ago:
given the history of video games, and video game censorship, i know this has a low likelihood of coming to fruition. however, i would adore a game where i massacre a bunch of capitalists like ultrakill
- Comment on Mewgenics becomes the most-played roguelite ever on Steam 5 weeks ago:
all white people have to do is say “sorry i guess” and they instantly get equipped with iron clad armour that prevents any further discussion of their bigoted harm and the kind of generational harm they’ve contributed to. try telling the black kids who had to grow up during his peak. it’s not gonna change anything

companies like Sony literally created the economic conditions that make this disgusting tactic unsurprising to see btw.

not at all surprising, we’re talking about a company that almostly solely hires white cis men and refuses to tackle that
