I like that he’s being environmentally friendly by using metal straws.
Or is that because real straws would disintegrate in the gasoline?
- Comment on Guys, what did you buy during the Steam autumn sale? 3 weeks ago:
I bought that Saturday morning at full price. No regerts. In 5 days, I dumped about 30 hours into it.

And think about the impact the whaling industry had on these environments back in the 1800 and 1900s. Who knows how much damage we did and how many potential animals we caused the extinction of by doing that.

That’s Derpleton from Centaurworld. Is a weird, but good show. Would recommend.

The left one. It’s the Giraffe’s neck that’s long. Not their torso.

Alternatively, you can contact/ask the people who wrote the paper if they can send you a copy of it. Usually they’ll gladly send it to you for free. I don’t believe they get any of the profit from the journal subscriptions/purchases. So they have no incentive to withhold it from anyone.

- Comment on Aluminum 4 months ago:
Titanium is awesome, though. Has similar corrosion properties to aluminum (in that it only oxidizes on the surface), is similar in strength to iron/steel, but is only about 60% of the weight iron. So it’s lighter.
Plus if you mix in molybdenum and I think some nickel, you can have yourself a very long lasting spring that won’t sag like steel springs after several years.
Main downside is it’s so expensive compared to iron :( - Comment on PlayStation 4 Emulation on the PC has hit a huge milestone - Modern Vintage Gamer 4 months ago:
I need to get me a jailbreakable PS4 so I can start ripping my collection.
- Comment on Awnings: a simple cooling tech we apparently forgot about 5 months ago:
That reminds me of the barium sulfate paint that was discovered a couple years ago. It’s so incredibly good at reflecting/moving heat that it could even cool whatever it’s painted on. I’ll have to find a source on this again…

- Comment on 11 years after launch, 49M people still use their PS4s, matching the PS5 6 months ago:
Something to keep in mind: Official support for the PS2 was only 12 years. The PS4 is now at 11 years.
It will most likely have a longer officially supported life than the PS2. - Comment on qt π 7 months ago:

I can kind of answer this question. For a year, I worked at a big box store where you can “save big money”. They had periodic training and one of the modules was on their store card.
The question was, “Why do we want people to have our card?”
I replied, “Because we don’t have the standard credit card fees.”
“No, it’s because of loyalty. If they have a [big box store] card, then they’re much more likely to spend their money here instead of [competitor].” - Comment on Every generation has different challenges 8 months ago:
I was able stop drinking pop fairly easily as a teen, but I still had problems with drinking other super sugary drinks like V8’s “fruit” juice or Simply Lemonade.
One thing I did was start drinking tea, particularly fruity flavors. Those are rather flavorful for teas and helped wean me off those other sugary drinks.
Plus with tea basically being flavored water, it made the jump to drinking straight up water even easier. I still drink tea, mind you, but I also drink a lot of straight water. - Comment on Title 9 months ago:

I’m a little late to the game, but I started playing Breath of the Wild on Ryujinx (I learned in December that my secondhand Switch is jailbreakable). And now I see why so many people loved it.
It also gave me strong Elden Ring vibes when gliding through the world, so I see where ER got its inspiration. It has me excite to play TotK right after.

I carry a pair on me at all times, too. And it’s a bigger help than one might realize.
If someone is sensitive to loud noises or particular sounds, earplugs can help prevent them from being overstimulated by those sounds. If I enter a loud bar, I put them in. If I have to be around loud or crying kids, I put them in. Loud college party or hockey game? Ear plugs. Crowded fair? Ear plugs.
They allow me to stay in social situations that I would otherwise have to leave. It makes much more sense for me to put my plugs in than to expect kids to be quiet all the time. Or for everyone at a party to be respectful just for me. - Comment on How do I stop hating children? 11 months ago:
One thing you could do to at least mitigate the issue is carry a set of ear plugs on you at all times. That’s what I do and it’s really helped me out in certain situations. It obviously won’t solve the problem, but if it reduces the noise level, it should make it less irritating.

I think Tim Sweeney is actually anti-linux for the consumer. Since the Deck runs on Linux, he has basically negative incentive for any of their games to run on it.
