- Comment on 'OLED and LCD will die out’: A microLED expert explains how the superior TV tech will finally become affordable 1 week ago:
I have a 34" IPS ultrawide from 2018 that I’ve been using heavily for work and personal use (essentially 14+ hours a day). Since it’s an IPS panel I have no worry about burn-in. And I can keep using it for another 6-7 years without worrying about it.
With an OLED panel in the same scenario, I’d expect to see some burn in happening within 3 years of getting it. - Comment on Studios are making money off of fake AI trailers on YouTube 2 weeks ago:
That is a good question that I do not know. But since they’re the ones hosting it on their servers, they may have the most legitimate claim to the ad revenue since it does cost money to keep the trailers on their servers and to stream it to viewers.
I am not a lawyer, though. This is just pure speculation on my part.
- Comment on Studios are making money off of fake AI trailers on YouTube 2 weeks ago:
To my knowledge, no one technically owns the AI made material, since it wasn’t made by a person. Thus no one should be getting any ad revenue from these videos since no one actually owns it.
DougDoug did a video on AI copyright a few months ago and is rather informative. Would recommend.

Can confirm about the unrest. My friend group is discussing these events daily. And a few of them are actually going out and protesting. I’m likely to join in this summer.
- Comment on Any Xbox 360 Can Now Be Hacked with Just a USB Flash Drive 4 weeks ago:
I’m gonna have to buy a 360 now to jailbreak and rip its games.
Been doing that for PS1-4, GC, Wii, Wii U, Switch, and OG Xbox. Now it’s time for the 360 to join the ranks. - Comment on Emulating PS2 for my Steam Deck, would love any recommendations! 1 month ago:
The only issue with Stuntman on emulators is it’s one the last remaining games not playable on PCSX2. There’s been consistent issues with the AI pathing on one of the levels and they haven’t been able to patch it after all these years.
I’m not saying it won’t ever be, but it may continue to be unplayable on non-native hardware for a while longer. - Comment on Emulating PS2 for my Steam Deck, would love any recommendations! 1 month ago:
I am not ashamed to admit it either. I even made the effort to get the PS2 ports of the two games that released on PSP, however I still need to play those.
It is a goal of mine to have every single R&C game playable on my PC. The only one I’m still waiting on is the PS4 version, and it’s only a matter of time with ShadPS4. - Comment on Emulating PS2 for my Steam Deck, would love any recommendations! 1 month ago:
I haven’t tried the R&C collection on RPCS3 yet even though I have a copy. The compatibility list has it under In Game with some graphical bugs and glitches, but it was last updated nearly 5 years ago, so things may have improved.

Luckily since you have a Deck, you can realistically change your thumbsticks should they get damaged.

No one mentioned the Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank games. Those were my childhood growing up and in my opinion hold up gameplay-wise to this day.
Plus the Jak series have a native launcher called OpenGOAL.
While I never played them myself, I have heard good things about the Sly Cooper series.

Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc is where it’s at. I consider that peak Rayman. Would love another game with that vibe.
- Comment on What emotion is this? 2 months ago:
The mechanics are definitely a bit clunky which adds to the difficulty. But outside of that, the game doesn’t feel that difficult to play.
Then again, I only got to the yard as a kid, so maybe the game gets noticeably harder after that. - Comment on What emotion is this? 2 months ago:
Lol, when I played it as a kid, it was on my grandma’s tiny ~13" CRT, so I can’t imagine the tv was doing much heavy lifting. My housemate does have a 60" TV I could try though…
- Comment on What emotion is this? 2 months ago:
Reminds me I gotta finish this game. I have it emulated on my phone. I only finished the house so far. It’s weird playing it as an adult versus as a kid. Back then the game felt much bigger and more difficult.

I like that he’s being environmentally friendly by using metal straws.
Or is that because real straws would disintegrate in the gasoline?
- Comment on Guys, what did you buy during the Steam autumn sale? 4 months ago:
I bought that Saturday morning at full price. No regerts. In 5 days, I dumped about 30 hours into it.

And think about the impact the whaling industry had on these environments back in the 1800 and 1900s. Who knows how much damage we did and how many potential animals we caused the extinction of by doing that.

The left one. It’s the Giraffe’s neck that’s long. Not their torso.

Alternatively, you can contact/ask the people who wrote the paper if they can send you a copy of it. Usually they’ll gladly send it to you for free. I don’t believe they get any of the profit from the journal subscriptions/purchases. So they have no incentive to withhold it from anyone.

- Comment on Aluminum 8 months ago:
Titanium is awesome, though. Has similar corrosion properties to aluminum (in that it only oxidizes on the surface), is similar in strength to iron/steel, but is only about 60% of the weight iron. So it’s lighter.
Plus if you mix in molybdenum and I think some nickel, you can have yourself a very long lasting spring that won’t sag like steel springs after several years.
Main downside is it’s so expensive compared to iron :( - Comment on PlayStation 4 Emulation on the PC has hit a huge milestone - Modern Vintage Gamer 8 months ago:
I need to get me a jailbreakable PS4 so I can start ripping my collection.
- Comment on Awnings: a simple cooling tech we apparently forgot about 8 months ago:
That reminds me of the barium sulfate paint that was discovered a couple years ago. It’s so incredibly good at reflecting/moving heat that it could even cool whatever it’s painted on. I’ll have to find a source on this again…

Something to keep in mind: Official support for the PS2 was only 12 years. The PS4 is now at 11 years.
It will most likely have a longer officially supported life than the PS2. - Comment on qt π 10 months ago:
