- Comment on Steam is basically a PC gaming monopoly, so why isn’t anyone mad? 2 weeks ago:
This is above my pay grade. I’ll never select a game for anything other than it’s enjoyability.
I definitely regret chaining myself to Steam…even if I didn’t know what I was getting myself into at the time. if I want to continue play the games bought there…I have to use Steam forever. Should be illegal.
- Comment on Steam is basically a PC gaming monopoly, so why isn’t anyone mad? 2 weeks ago:
A meaningless distinction when none of the games you bought can be launched without Steam.
- Comment on Steam is basically a PC gaming monopoly, so why isn’t anyone mad? 2 weeks ago:
I wasn’t aware of that because I don’t own any games on that list.
- Comment on Steam is basically a PC gaming monopoly, so why isn’t anyone mad? 3 weeks ago:
It’s definitely as issue with Steam. Once you purchase a game you can’t just launch it…you need to launch it through their platform. I don’t want to have my internet connected and Steam updated just to play a game.
- Comment on Steam is basically a PC gaming monopoly, so why isn’t anyone mad? 3 weeks ago:
I’m not sure what you mean…once you’ve purchased a game on Steam…you have to play it using Steam…a platform that needs to be working for you to play your game.
- Comment on Steam is basically a PC gaming monopoly, so why isn’t anyone mad? 3 weeks ago:
I pirate for demos….but once I buy on Steam it’s more than irritating, and sometimes makes my games unplayable, when Steam is required to play.
Urm…I’m not an activist…I just want there to be reasonable anti-trust so you don’t have to go through a bunch of bullshit to play a game you own.
- Comment on Steam is basically a PC gaming monopoly, so why isn’t anyone mad? 3 weeks ago:
I’m “mad”. Their business model should be illegal. If you buy a game you shouldn’t be chained to their platform.

That’s exactly what came to mind when Trump was whining about not getting NATO minesweepers.
It must be a trip having the joint chiefs reverse engineering his Windows 95 understanding of war.
- Comment on Do people actually believe those "gurus" on the internet that supposedly "give advice"? These seems very sussy and feel scam-adjacent, isn't it? 4 months ago:
These guys don’t really deal with who you’re talking about…but here’s a great podcast worth boosting…
- Comment on How much money should one person realistically make or have? 4 months ago:
Impossible question to answer:
Costs are so out of whack right now because wealth concentrate at the top.
At the end of the day we’d need a lot less money if money was more aligned with how much work we put in, instead of this “trickle up” society we’ve designed.
- Comment on How long until we can start shorting years to 2 numbers again? 4 months ago:
In the 30s you can start talking about the 20s. It will be annoying at first because people will try to be funny and/or get intentionally get confused that you’re talking about the 1920s.
I’d imagine talking the way you’re being nostalgic about will be in full swing by the 2040s.

Why not use a picture from a show where the actors are all actually dead?

I mean…I’m sure it came from something I said to it…all LLMs are good for is being agreeable and reflecting what you want back to you…provided what you ask for is simple.

There’s a lot of a disagreement to be had here…but AI is a topic where we all pretty much seem to agree.
I’ve experimented with AI (so-called chatbots) and the best that can be said about it is it’s a tool…not even a good tool…for starting a project when you’re stuck. It’s absolutely unreliable for anything approaching a final project. I guess…it’s really great if you enjoy being pissed off that it can both mine valid obscure information, while at the same time lye to your face over and over…but then do a 180 on something that’s true or a lie just because you tell it to.
- Comment on Why does everyone put celery in soup stock? 4 months ago:
Celery is used because it’s cheap…and it’s bitter balancing onions and other cheap stock items that tend to be sweet. A stock shouldn’t be sweet or bitter because it’s something you “work up”.
“Everybody” doesn’t use it tho. Some stocks are “garbage can” stocks, using whatever unservable scraps that come from food preparation…others are from ingredients purchased to make the stock like a Mirpoix (the most common stock base that uses celery).
There are lots of people like you that say celery ruins stock…there are many others that say bell peppers ruin stock…but then there are core stocks made from bell peppers.
Just do what tastes good.

Right? I know more shit than some people on some topics…and less shit than other people on other topics.
Expertise might be what they were going for…but they can’t say that because AI can’t have expertise on anything.

You can definitely make an argument that “proactive” protection is a strategy :)

- Comment on Is gold investing a scam? 5 months ago:
Yeap.
Like…depending on the nature of the collapse you might have a bunch of delusional former MAGA people in a region who all have a bunch of gold so they trade it with each other…but for the most part nobody would want it.

- Comment on Is gold investing a scam? 5 months ago:
I assume you’re talking about physical gold.
Yes, it’s generally a scam. Some middle man is going to take a cut of what it’s worth before you enter the market - and they’re almost always going to misrepresent it’s value, especially if it’s not in the form of a stamped bar. Then you basically have to store it and shlep it and secure it and keep it secret, which will further diminish profit. Then you have to sell it, presumably as part of your retirement plan…or leave it to somebody who’s going to lose even more of its value when they want to unload it inefficiently.
If you’re not wealthy in the first place it’s only worth investing in as a hobby…because you have to factor in the value of your time and subtract that from its value, as well.

I don’t think he really ever had them. He was making what…250 grand a month from the Russians (some ridiculous number)? When he lost that cash he immediately changed his format from Russian propaganda to toxic centrism to try and steal viewers from people like Candace Owens…and it’s didn’t work.
- Comment on ☪️⛎♑️☦️ 5 months ago:
Tim Pool is struggling for relevance after he got his spigot of Russian money cut off.
I don’t know if somebody fired a gun or made some sort of noise near his home…but I certainly know that Tim is disingenuous and a liar and I don’t doubt he would sensationalize, exaggerate or completely invent an event to improve his ratings now that he has to rely on listeners to make money.

Huh, why are you talking about Marx?
Do you believe fear and greed are mutually exclusive?
- Comment on Greed is Destroying the World - Drew Gooden 5 months ago:
Is comparing greed to evil really appropriate? Just because Gengis Khan existed doesn’t mean all other humans get a pass.
Trying to separate culture from politics isn’t possible.
You’re projecting a lot onto a very brief question I posed…and you’re doing everything but answering it.

Lots to agree with here.
…but you’re very far afield from my question.
