For those who aren’t scientists, no. You don’t need legal access. You don’t necessarily need access at all (though imo it’s negligent to cite without having read the paper)

TBF I was taught to use water on pies, it makes the crust of the pastry develop a shiny crisp edge.

I’ve always thought this is a weird status game, insisting that there is some fundamental separation between arts and engineering, or that the complex problems of the world will somehow be solved with more arts.
I don’t see any reason why this is true, and tons of massively cringe culturally biased writing and art in every form of media to suggest that it’s not. Arts are no better at overcoming cultural bias.

It’s extraordinarily irresponsible of dear Mr Sweeney to get out of bed every morning, and yet he sadly so often does.

In the case that you have an earthquake or something similar yeah you’re just dead

If you’re not suicidally stupid you’ll already be holding onto the rope leading to safety with plastic arrows attached every few feet pointing to the exit so you know which way along the rope is out. Never let go of the rope!

Idk, pretty much all the deaths I hear about are open water divers who decided to go into a cave, ignoring the part of their training where someone shouts at them for an hour to never even think about going in a cave even a teeny little bit, no not even just the entrance, no not even just to look.

Serious attempt at an answer: I was terrified of this myself. I felt super tired on much less, had no idea how I would cope with a full day of work plus coming home and going right back out to be social or whatever. I ended up having to do it, plus language lessons twice a week. I think you really do adjust, at least a little. You find ways to rest in smaller periods, in bathroom at work, going out for a break with the smokers, sleeping when you come home etc. I find a lot of things I ended up sacrificing but I also find it’s not as hard as you might think. I even manage to cook most days, and stay on top of household chores for the most part. It isn’t a brag, and I think I fall back on the same recipes time and again. It just sort of all gets forced to be optimised

Idk, I use basically no paper at home or at my job. I get ungodly amounts from my language class though

I once flew alone from Spain as a child and got registered as requiring assistance (due to being a child) There was an old blind lady on the flight with me. Somehow, they mistakenly thought that I was blind, and that the old lady I guess was just old. So they were dragging me around and saying all sorts of confusing things to me in Spanish, putting my hands on things etc. it was a weird experience for me, but probably worse for the poor lady.

It’s a common criticism but do you think a reasonably smart person couldn’t struggle through it? I reckon they’d be especially likely to succeed if they were equipped with a good book and some humility. Humility can’t be given but pieces of advice can. Do you have any good ones?
