- Comment on Wildfire phone alert was 'entirely appropriate', government says 23 hours ago:
We as a nation are largely careless and dismissive about wildfire risk. At the time the alert went out, peoples homes were literally burning down. Personally I think it was an appropriate wake-up call.

Fair. I mean, quantum immortality is dumb and wrong anyway so it doesn’t really matter either way.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 day ago:
Did you respond to the wrong comment
- Comment on [deleted] 1 day ago:
Theres a deeply pseudoscientific theory called “quantum immortality” which says that the many worlds interpretation is correct, and every time a probabilistic event possibly leading to your death occurs, your consciousness seamlessly continues in those universes/timelines where it does not end. Hence, you can never experience death, and will always improbably escape it unless there is literally zero probability of survival.

Liverpool cleared him, and Cambridge opened an investigation but it never completed. Doesn’t really matter at this point whether he did or not, it was a completely overblown and racially motivated response to academic misconduct either way

I guess the penalty for plagiarism is psychological torment followed by death now, but only if you’re black.

Write a comprehensive thesis about administrative practice in the early mongolian empire and then obsessively maintain the wikipedia page on it

There is some doctrine in english headline writing that says it’s okay to substitute the word “and” with a comma. I hate it with a passion.

A vast, vast amount of work in modern economies just objectively does not need to be done for any good reason, but is performed to keep capitalism from collapsing in on itself.

The flame of life and ingenuity burns bright in a void of soulless mimickry, a twinkling hope that, in spite of the machinery of capital feverishly labouring to churn humanity from humans, the vibrantly corporeal imperative to fuck something - anything - can never be vanquished

get small towel/flannel
soak in water and squeeze out until damp but not dripping
drape over your shoulders close to your neck
this directly cools your carotid and jugular, tricking your brain into thinking it’s colder than it is as well as cooling the rest of your body
