Imho it’s perfectly valid to have your goal to be a lifestyle sub 24/7, but you do have to accept the fact that most partners who are willing to lifestyle dom with no breaks are abusers, so you have a very high chance of being unhappy. Good doms who don’t ever need a break are as rare as unicorns, so you’d better have plenty to offer them.
Then again, a lot of people looking for this kind of relationship on some psychological level want to be abused. It’s a learned helplessness thing. Some people have lost so much of their ability to trust others, they need a partner who acts abusively (or pretends to) so they can let go of that feeling of paranoia that it’s going to get worse. So they can stop looking over their shoulder and waiting for the other shoe to drop. It’s not rational, but that’s the kind of person you create when you abuse children. They grow up into adults who don’t know what to do with themselves in a healthy relationship.

Lemmy also tends towards misogyny and truscum attitudes moreso than Reddit. There are great instances like blahaj or zip where that’s not the case, but on Lemmy it’s not feasible to only view posts on subscribed communities, while on Reddit it is. And that means it’s easier to build a progressive feed on Reddit.

Suppose someone who hated Elon Musk called him a nasty word like “emotionless autist” or “robot sperg”, as examples of anti-autism slurs based on shortening the name of the diagnosis. I think this would be the same as calling your parents the slur you used. If you can honestly say you’d be completely fine having an anti-autism slur used on a bad person, then I’ll accept your use of an anti-narcissism slur on bad people. But if you think one of those two very similar situations would be ableist and would hurt disabled people, then please accept that they’re both ableist and they both hurt disabled people.

In 1979, a historian named Christopher Lasch, who had no psychiatric credentials, wrote a book arguing that modern American culture was increasing the prevalence of a particular psychiatric disorder in the general population.
The book gained a lot of cultural traction, especially among people who call themselves pop psychologists, but whose actual job is writing scam self-help books. They started using this disorder in their books as a bogeyman. They said people with this disorder are living among us, stealing our energy and resources and making us weak. Basically just a reskinned version of the antisemitic conspiracy theory.
These narratives became so popular that people started using the slur for a person who has the disorder without even knowing they were talking about a disorder. They thought it was just a word for a certain kind of bad person. Like how kids in the 90s used the R word.
You heard that word and didn’t realise it was a slur, and you used it to describe your parents.

Got a question for you then: We all know not to compare apples and oranges, but why would we want to compare apples and apples? I have an answer: it’s because at the supermarket, I want to choose the freshest apples to buy. So I compare them by how fresh they look. But since you say comparison isn’t for differences, why would you want to compare apples?

Actually, comparing is the opposite of equating. In math, equations use =, while comparisons use > or <. In computer science, it’s a similar story, except equations are replaced with equality tests and also get !=.
