I’ve seen this sentiment (yours) in a number of threads about Steam Hardware prices but I never actually see the inverse. In the circles I move in everyone seems to understand what’s going on broadly with chips. There is a pretty obvious correlation between the AI bubble and hardware prices and everyone has been drawing attention to it for months. Even in Nintendo spaces where hardly anyone cares about technical details and most would buy a cardboard box if it played Mario.

TikTok did the same shit back when I used it. It’s weird because I’ve always kept my internet life separate from my personal life, and now every app is begging to show my closest friends and family my shitposts, political takes and NSFW content. I’m mostly done with traditional social media by now at this point anyway. I’ve managed to kick tiktok and am now permanently banned from reddit so hopefully I won’t get sucked back in.

Yeah we already have GOG for this purpose. Valve imposing similar restrictions would be reckless.
