The question isn’t why you avoid sites that use ads, it’s why you don’t have an ad blocker for the one-off situations that you do, like this one.
Or did you go to that particular article on techcrunch as part of your routine of checking if you made the right choice to avoid such sites?
Clearly sometimes you have to go to those sites, and when you do, you’re exposing yourself to ads, tracking, and potential malware unnecessarily…
- Comment on Is "AI" the end of truth? 1 week ago:
You know how Google gives you AI summary at the top now? It’s great, isn’t it?
No longer do you have to sift through multiple results to and give your device ad cancer just to get a simple answer to a question. Google just gives you the answer directly! It’s so great and helpful.
Except when it’s not, but it never says “I don’t know, check the results manually”, it just makes shit up. The other day I googled “geely pixel 9 wireless connection” because I couldn’t connect my pixel 9 to a geely car wirelessly. Google (the maker of the pixel 9) confidently described how the “Geely Pixel 9 is a device made by Geely…” and went on to give useless instructions.
This was a inconsequential query. What happens when you look up a serious topic and the sites that maintained that knowledge online no longer find it financially feasible? What happens when you rely on the trained model and that’s the only option? What happens when it hallucinates convincingly? Are you sure it hasn’t fooled you yet?
Social media created bubbles of ignorance and fake news, AI replacing search intends to eliminate the non-bubbles the rest of us seek and count on. What are you gonna do, drive to the library and read books every time you need to learn something new?

So me saying don’t lionize Carter because he was a terrible president is the great man theory, when I’m literally saying Trump is not a special kind of unique evil…
You either don’t understand the words you’re using, or you’re purposefully being dishonest.

You knew, sometimes the most skilled artists can still produce shit, and you’re entitled to not enjoy every piece regardless of its technical quality.

The Democrat started the genocide of my people and doubled down on it. They aren’t my friends, and one day they’ll come for you too.
My family is only in this country because of neoliberals destroying and stealing our homelands.

I’m sure you’re really worried about being dragged to camp. Meanwhile I actually have family in ICE detention, and I lay the blame on both the fascists in charge and the idiots who still insist we should have voted for a nonviable genocidal candidate running a platform of most lethal military.

Democrats enabled him and did nothing in the gap between his first and second term to prevent him from executing the out in the open takeover plan. They did start genocide and lost the election because they ran campaign on “the most lethal military” instead of stopping the genocide, and your dumb ass still think the Democrats are you friends.

Yup. And there are several other 2 lane roads connecting Florida and Georgia to the west of the swamp. A direct line from Jacksonville to Atlanta would be challenging, but that’s not what we’re talking about here.
Orlando to Atlanta is already a direct land route, and you see Georgia plates in Florida and Florida plates in Georgia regularly.

And nothing will be fixed while “the left” in the US still worship and lionize Carter, who started all the mess.
Yes, Trump is literally worse, but both parties are two sides of the same coin. You cannot save the country by electing neo-liberals, it’ll always be further right than before.
- Comment on Park shades not working 3 weeks ago:
Your guy is kind of over the top and his humor is a bit off, but he’s not wrong. A couple strategically planted trees OR a couple more carefully planned covers would provide shade to the benches most of the day.
A park I frequent has three large triangle shades suspended overhead that cover most benches and some of the play area most of the day. That’s good urban design.
This is economic design. One shade that barely covers two benches at noon.

It doesn’t require constant watering and fertilizer that leeches into ground water just so you can have perfectly green 2" tall grass fully exposed to the sun that doesn’t want to live there and call it “nature”.
- Comment on Where are all the successful "red cities"? 1 month ago:
Red cities are typically found in Red states.
