Yang Hansen was good. Dude’s got playmaking in his genes. The Yaokic jokes can become true.
Carter Bryant showed flashes of extreme defensive ability. He was showing lockdown defense and insane hops with blocking shots from behind. He’s still raw, but if he develops his 3pt shot, he’s fit nicely as a 3&D wing alongside Wemby, Fox, Castle, and Harper.

- Comment on Does the "White Power Ranger" seem like an odd title? 5 weeks ago:
I grew up calling them “<color> ranger”. I don’t think anyone, at least in my part of the world at the time, called each member in full as a power ranger; only as a group.

- Comment on How would I repurpose a work laptop? 5 weeks ago:
The first two things you need to do first are:
-
Make sure you are not going to be legally liable for keeping that laptop with you even after getting let go. It’s unfair, but even if it was their fault they forgot to take it back, you might get sued.
-
After making sure the first point is clear, wipe it thoroughly in case there are tracking/monitoring tools on it.
Once both are done, then do whatever you want with it. Nobody cares if you install Windows on it or dual-boot it with Linux.

Straight up exchange lmao. Are the Kings tanking? Also, holy shit Nuggets are a behemoth again.
- Comment on Spurs, Luke Kornet reach four-year, $41 million deal 5 weeks ago:
Great pick up for the Spurs. An actual good back up big who can provide rim protection. Kornet and KO also worked well together in spurts with the Celtics, so it shouldn’t be an issue to share the floor with Wemby from time to time.

Clippers are gonna olay even slower, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as they can control the pace of the game.

The can, they just won’t because of those juicy overdraft fees.

That’s true, but this directs them to the owner anyway, which is the same thing. It just goes to someone else. If this was actually anti-bribery policy, gifts should not be accepted full stop.

- Comment on Why was file search much faster in Windows XP than in subsequent versions? 1 month ago:
I’m talking out of my ass, but I’m assuming it’s because of indexing. Operating Systems nowadays use indexing for searching your system, and it can be fast IF the file you’re looking for was indexed. That’s why it routinely re-indexes your entire system. It might take longer if the file wasn’t included. With file systems getting larger exponentially, indexing can be more efficient. Whereas before, the OS literally just goes over all your files to find a match.

- Comment on BREAKING: The Phoenix Suns are trading two-time NBA Finals MVP... - ESPN 1 month ago:
I think you have a different definition of ceiling/floor raiser than everyone else. It’s not about winning.
To me, and most of the other people I’ve seen define those terms, a floor raiser elevates their entire team and makes their teammates better. So someone like Jokic or CP3.
A ceiling raiser is someone who has the potential to make an already good team even better. KD is the ultimate example of that. He can’t lead and carry a team, he can only add to an already good team that can do without him, with the Warriors as an example. He failed in Brooklyn because he was supposed to be the leader and he clearly is not one. He failed in Phoenix because that honestly wasn’t a good team, and Booker who technically is the leader isn’t a floor raiser either. The success of his stint with the Rockets is not dependent on him, but how well their core does next season.
Curry and Kawhi are outliers in that they can be both. With Curry’s skillset and playstyle, you can plug him into any team and he raises your ceiling. At the same time, his gravity gives his teammates the space to play well, which is why KD had all the space in the world with GS, because everyone was busy trying to stop Curry. Kawhi is a ceiling raiser by definition, but he was so good in his prime that he could carry an entire team on his back even without raising the floor of his teammates (i.e. Toronto).

Durant has always been a floor raiser, never a ceiling raiser
I think you got it the other way around…

That’s the thing. They ARE good as it is, they don’t need the foul-baiting and flopping. Not to mention they get away with a lot of physicality in the name of elite defense. That’s why their championship run was so frustrating to watch.
- Comment on [Game Threads] NBA Finals 2025 1 month ago:
Welp, I guess that’s it. What an anti-climactic ending. Teams can only wish refs called their defense the way they do OKC.

This is where you see Hali’s importance. Their offense suddenly stops moving when he’s out. TJ is a good backup and has helped them a ton, but he’s not as great a playmaker.

I’m lucky that my city has a true IMAX theater and unlucky that it doesn’t have reserved seating, in this day and age. So I have to arrive an hour early just so I can stand in line and get a good seat.
