Many of the United States have removed teaching critical thinking from their curriculum.

Daily usage streaks isn’t a “screwed up” notification.
Plenty of people read a newspaper everyday. Or check socials each day.
A more accurate measure for unhealthy, addictive usage would be hours per day, or week.

But why would I want to make a new account on Reddit after getting banned for saying things that people need to hear?
If Reddit wants some passive bullshit audience that can’t talk back, and that swallows bullshit posting, I’m good elsewhere.

If this is seriously how cognitively deficient Lemmy is, than Lemmy is no better than Facebook.
Peer reviewers are expert volunteers. Peer reviewers are NOT paid to complete peer reviews. It is a form of volunteer work.
Peer reviewers DO hold jobs in their respective industries, and are PAID for their actual, non volunteer, jobs.

This is stupid. There are two completely separate variables here.
Peer reviewers review publications as part of their service to their respective communities. Unpaid.
Peer reviewers are PAID by their respective industry for the fucking job that they perform for that industry. Paid.
Imagine saying that soup kitchen workers were paid one billion dollars last year. In reality, the soup kitchen workers WORK FOR FREE. They have OTHER JOBS in which they earn money.
This is divisive, disingenuous bullshit.

I miss what Reddit used to be, before it became overrun with shills, bots, dumbass moderators, and corporate policies that stifle free speech.
