  This picture is of Elizabeth Homes. “In 2018, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charged Theranos, Holmes, and former Theranos chief operating officer (COO) Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani with raising $700 million from investors through a fraud involving false or exaggerated claims about the accuracy of the company’s blood-testing technology; Holmes settled the charges by paying a $500,000 no admit no deny (NAND) fine, returning 18.9 million shares to the company, relinquishing her voting control of Theranos, and accepting a ten-year ban from serving as an officer or director of a public company.” There was no “Accidentally”, it was intentional to get money they didn’t deserve.

  But to those of you who think it’s a relatable meme about imposter syndrome using a random image of an average person in an office environment… yeah the world feels complicated. If you’ve been completely honest to others though, your very presence in that roll is the only proof you need to show you actually do know enough.

  Just makes it simpler to navigate to an explanation of some random xkcd comic you come across.

  I agree, except it should be retracted automatically, & only re-admitted if the review is successful in ascertaining legitimacy, & all papers that cite retracted papers receive the same treatment while allowing them to be automatically re-instated if their sources become legitimate after review; let the psudoscience fall like the house of cards that it is.

  Black bears are pretty skittish, so usually acting big & loud is enough to make them jog away, but I’m not sure someone could take them in a fight if the black bear was cornered.

  Speaking of which, bears are extremely protective of their cubs, so if you ever see any cubs, running away from them at full speed is probably the best choice.
