A mina! Há malta que continua a manter boas ROMs não oficiais. Apesar do meu Redmi 4X já ter pifado (o touch desistiu completamente numa porção do ecrã), durou 6 anos com builds não oficiais do Lineage+MicroG 🙏

The web font would also be cached, and it wouldn’t be that big of a resource in the first place. I think being able to copy a comment’s content is more important, but whatever.

Estou a tartar disso!

Yeah, it is indeed very simple.

On NeoVim, I use
kyazdani42/nvim-tree.lua
for a tree, and alsoitchyny/lightline.vim
which are lighter than Nerd Tree and Airline, respectively. I also use the native LSP stuff instead of YouCompleteMe. - Comment on Is there a FOSS Android app to record audio? 2 years ago:
Lineage should come with a audio and screen recorder app built in, named "Recorder". Beware, though, that its name gets translated if you change the system's language.

As I've pointed in other comments threads, I run lemmy.pt on a $5/month Vultr VPS (along with some other small stuff). The instance is pretty small still, and as such resource usage is tiny, however, from what I've gathered before, such a VPS will do for quite a while!
Regarding funding, I just pay for the server myself. I created a liberapay group/team/org because some people suggested it in our Matrix channel, but it is clearly labelled as something for people that reeeally want to help out, since I can cover the current costs with no issues. - Comment on How do you fund your lemmy instance? 2 years ago:
I also run with the base VPS storage (25GB) and still have 5GB free (have other stuff running on the VPS besides Lemmy, but not very big either). Pict-rs supports object storage, so it would be trivial and pretty cheap to get a lot of good storage. Providers such as DO and Vultr (and the big players too ofc) provide about 250GB for $5/month, but I've heard a lot of great things about BackBlaze, which apparently bills $5 per TB... I've not tried it, so dunno.
Point being, storage isn't really an issue :)

A a $5/month VPS from DO/Vultr/Linode/etc (1 vCPU, 1GB RAM, 20/25GB SSD) should be good for quite a while! I have one from Vultr and I run multiple things in there, including lemmy.pt, and haven't ran into any resource issues. The instance is small, but Lemmy doesn't take up more than 350MB (server, UI, postgres, pict-rs and email relay), and CPU basically never goes beyond 20% (idles at 5/10).

Would be nice to hear why you think it's bad and how to improve it. Could you open an issue on the tracker?
- Comment on Is it possible to change ones username on Lemmy? 2 years ago:
Don't bleieve it is possible, due to how federation works. However, I'm unsure if it would be impossible to implement federated name changes. Something for @nutomic@lemmy.ml or @dessalines@lemmy.ml to answer.

I think your suggestion provides some good balance, you're right in that, even in a decentralized platform, there has to be some local trust/centralization. I find trusting the server admins easier than the community mods, so shifting some of their powers could be good. Additionally, if migration tools are to be developed, a community could fairly easily move itself to another instance, in case the trust on the admins cracks.

In my case, Flutter apps just don't do it at all. I don't know if it is my phone or a bug in the toolkit, but apps made with it are just too sluggish for me. I just use Lemmy's PWA capabilities on my phone.
