whatever happened to intellectual humility? just because you’re experiencing acute Dunning-Kruger doesn’t mean you have to go raining on somebody else’s parade about how they “know nothing”. Maybe they’re right, maybe you’re an arrogant fool, maybe you really are as stupid as you think you are so you should stfu and let someone else imagine a little. People like you bug. Just because you’ve realized how stupid you are doesn’t mean you need to go shoving it down other’s throats in a desperate bid to salvage your ego.

that’s the thing that pisses me off: the tax often increases the perception of how much people are willing to spend. even if you remove or decrease the tax, the companies just inflate the price to fatten their margins. Rule #1 of capitalism: the consumer always loses.

I mean, stupidity and group think are just parts of having conversations in large groups as happens on these internet forums. I have not been impressed with the quality of intellect on Lemmy. But at least its not like Reddit where every mildly interesting subreddit has a minimum Karma count of like 30, and at least I’m not getting permabanned left and right over completely benign BS like saying I think Christianity is a net positive. I can say what I want here, and people can downvote it and I might even get mobbed… but at least I’m not being micromanaged.

Reddit sucks. They’re the reason I came to Lemmy. They’re absolute trash.

yeah that’s what I just said. and its a bad idea. if you believe the government is inefficient, you don’t just fire everyone lol. you work on a granular level to incentivize efficiency through policy adjustments.
The fact they’re just planning on firing everyone is proof they’re not interested in helping Americans. They just want to strain federal agencies to a point they have to outsource even more than they do. This way, these people retain power vai consultant firms etc. long after they step out of office.

This whole election is nuts. RFK Jr. is gonna gut the FDA and NIH so they have to outsource more and draw more lawsuits which will feed his own stupid advocacy firm, or he’ll switch his company over to consulting and score millions more by outsourcing the FDA to his own workers. And Elon is obviously going to benefit himself. And Trump is gonna wreak havoc on the economy in the long run with his tariffs if he’s being serious, and his border policies are a disaster… this isn’t going to go well.
