I was referring to the royal you.
My point is immigration can be good, if it’s properly handled and the workers are able to actually participate in the policy of the country they’re working in. I have a lot of coworkers that were initially H-1B and are now in the naturalization pipeline. Waiting on citizenship for over a decade some of them.
They pay income, property and sales taxes. Their kids go to public schools that their taxes help to fund. They have debt and credit scores. They’re active contributing members of society. However they have no say in how any political system they live within is run and have the spectre of deportation to worry about now.
For those not seeking citizenship it’s even worse. C-suite executives and corporations profit heavily from their labor and they’re stuck in limbo. It’s akin to indentured servitude as their presence in this country is predicated on their work. Their boss has a lot of say in how and where they live their lives.

You want H-1B workers, fine! They get citizenship after a year. They get taxed at the same rate as anyone else so they also get a vote. Taxation without representation. Fuck that

Well, they don’t last far longer as a whole, but the advances in machining tolerances and material science, the mechanical internals can go far longer without anything more than fluid changes.
As far as longevity, soy based wiring harnesses, poorly shielded ECUs, and borked software updates are what are killing cars these days.

No! Don’t do this! It creates a parabola that focuses the beams in the center of your brain. The fix is to put a faraday cage around your wifi of course!

You can just never connect it to the Internet in the first place and only use the HDMI ports. Using a linux media pc running Kodi or whatever. But most people don’t know or care to do this.
Also the larger state actors have been hijacking televisions as well. However the attack still required an initial network logon.

I think we can both agree that these are both anti consumer practices.

Not when Netflix is throttling 4K bitrate. Shitty site but there’s a good writeup here. I’d suggest ublock origin or Firefox reader mode.
- Comment on Netflix bad... Shocker, I know 2 weeks ago:
No, linux and Firefox are both capable of running 4k resolution.
If you want to use the gaming analogy this is like buying a triple star game but not being able to play it due to kernel level cheat detect.
You cannot place the onus on the consumer with this.

If you’re already reinstalling BTRFS will snapshot your partitions. I usually backup the root partition to my backup server as a script. It’s a thought.

If you have enough RAM 16Gb+. I would only use it for boot disks. Also you can boot from a raidz as well if you have the extra drives.

Either way good luck to you. I hope your server is up soon.

Ach! Did you have btrfs? Sometimes you can load the OS read only if it’s an ssd and shunt the OS to a ramdisk

Say you want a ham sandwich. I’m going to sell you a ham sandwich. However the sandwich you get is missing the titular ham of said sandwich. There is still good bread and mayo and cheese. But did you buy a cheese sandwich? Would you complain?
This is the crux of OPs post. They’re not getting what they pay for.

I don’t think stupid is the correct word, however I do think there are efforts to make independent thought and trouble shooting more difficult for the working class. There is a pretty large incentive for the ruling class to have the least educated population there can be.
- Comment on I never realized this 2 weeks ago:
I think it’s gone down tbh. The average human is not experiencing the same novel problems that require troubleshooting and focus. A lot of thought is just decision based these days.

Fantastic acting and production quality can elevate any media but especially TV shows. Look at Shrinking for a prime example. It has the production quality of Dispatches From Elsewhere but it’s essentially a three camera sitcom like Modern Family or hell All in the Family.
People like the humor of Inside Job and the fantastic quality made it so much better.

The years of experience are a filter, ignore them. Focus on if you understand the problem the team is trying to solve. Or if you can learn it in a reasonable time.
