Because you used therms like “simpler” and “one dimensional” which makes your answer seem like you look down on these games and people you enjoy them.
- Comment on Upscaling is actually good (as an option) 3 days ago:
Upskaling is a fabolous technology and the split that quality needs to do between hardware upgrades and software support. Overall the existence of the technology is definitly a positive one.
However people are worried about a development that we are already seeing where games are just not efficient with their resources and require way to much computing power. People are afraid studios will decrease the amount of work they put into optimising because they feel like Upskaling will solve all perfomance problems for them. But optimisation needs to happen on both parts. That’s what people are afraid of.

- Comment on ARK DLC Trailer Slammed For Being Made Entirely Through Gen AI 1 week ago:
The fact that this is possible is amazing to me. The fact that the whole trailer consists of nothing from the game but dreamt up fabrications of a random number generator with lots of training is not.
Games are an intentional art where a lot of creativity and work is put into a unique interactive medium. The AI trailer is far from that.

Great points. One think I love about disco is how much expression it gives to the mundane. It’s not about firebreathing dragons but about trashcans. My most intense interaction I’ve had in this game was with a malfunctioning speaker on a office building.

- Comment on Gaming has a polarization problem 2 weeks ago:
I think there is a strong difference since the steam rating usually ranges between 70% and 97%. This makes the gap way wider then the numbers suggest
- Comment on Gaming has a polarization problem 2 weeks ago:
Sure but the cheap market would not exist if a majority of people would not buy the game at full price. Sure there are a lot of smart people who don’t fall for the FOMO and hype but if a AAA game would only sell for 30€ it would not offset its development cost and no new game would be made.

What if I from time to time really love some basic gameplay done well? I’ll think avowed is straight up my alley. Not every game I play needs to innovate. There is also a lot of comfort in the preexisting.

Mario 64 allways takes me back. And its kind of nice to share the nostalgia with Nintendo64 players since I’ve only played it on the Nintendo DS

I honestly don’t understand this situation and how horny people are to see ubisoft fail. I get it their games are not stellar masterpieces but honestly they are okay/good. It feels like they are incredibly overhated.

That’s fine for me. The dev does not spam but gives me some insight in his development and his struggle to get people to play his stuff.

- Comment on Hogwarts Legacy - a weird (90 hour) review *no spoilers 1 month ago:
Honestly I don’t know why you want to 100% it. It seems like you’re not having a good time. It’s okay to stop games instead of forcing yourself trough something you don’t enjoy.
Having said that AFAIK the PC version seems pretty stable. There are some perfomance kinks but overall the game seemed to run good. My partner has not reported minor or gamebraking bugs aswell. So this side might be on the switch port.
Now let’s talk about the actual game. It is incredible shallow. That’s just it. But honestly I think that’s fine. The game was made not made for people who play a lot of games and more importantly I don’t think the actual gameplay is the selling point of the game. It’s the incredible and rich presentation of Hoghwarts and it’s surroundings. The amount of unique assets and beautiful textures you find in the castle are incredible and it’s clear most of the development budget was spend there instead of the gameplay.
The word as a gameplay playground is horrible as you said. Countless of meaningless repetitive tasks. But as a backdrop to the focal points of the game they do their job. I don’t think the game is a game of the year but I’m still impressed by the visualisation of Hoghwarts and it’s surroundings. I’ve expected this game to be way worse than it is.
