Yeah I’m all for killing the politicians and billionaires doing that, if they don’t stop with warning. Because they are the root of the problem.
But killing working class people who may have little choice and not have the education necessary to know they are contributing to bad is counterproductive and difficult to justify.

Yeah. The right wing zealot behaviour of killing anyone you don’t like.

Partly. But it’s been building up in me for the past few months. Like I legitimately see it every day on lemmy.

Hard for me not to. I’m disabled to the point I’m unable to communicate in real life (lost ability to speak or hear), and am bedridden. So communicating via texting/phone is my only way.

Because it isn’t just “nice” not to kill people for these things. It’s what you’d expect that large majority of people to think.

With the kind of demogaphic on lemmy sure. But trust me speaking in a thick half aussie half british boganesque accent anywhere with non-uni educated people in the US gets you blank stares of confusion. I once had an old lady at wallmart yell at me too speak english or leave the country 😂

More like suggesting there is no reliable evidence.
As the law of funding bias says, only research that corroborates powerful interests will get the funding necessary to create a reliable body of evidence.
- Comment on If I live in a red state, would it be better to vote for rfk to take votes away from trump? 4 months ago:
I guarantee you Biden will outperform RFK in every state, including Wyoming and Missippi.
Voting for RFK helps him pass the threshold for federal party funding and effectively gives money to a nut.

I speak with an american accent in my academic circle because everyone there is super american.
But in my friend group I let my half-aussie half-british accent go free.
Also speak that american accent with most strangers since they have usually learnt american english and will probably understand me better.
- Comment on Why is the US not considered a third world country? 5 months ago:
If you mean “developped” vs “develloping”.
The HDI of the US is significantly lower than canada or northern europe, but still much higher than the world average.
- Comment on Why is homebrewing so middle-class, straight, white, male? 5 months ago:
Too bad lemmy doesn’t have a “prisonhooch” community as far as I know. That tends to attract far more people as it costs less

Eh. Half of that 2.7 billion being put into research into a disease like Myalgic Enceph. (ME) could probably significantly improve the quality of life of 80 million people who have one of the worlds most disabling diseases.

- Comment on Father of woman with ME/CFS scared she will "die in hospital" 5 months ago:
This summary says “he” as if it’s her father but “he” is an ME expert who worked on the government guidelines who is criticising how the hospital is mistreating Carla.

The answer to your question is that Musk is a right wing propagandist.

- Comment on ‘I could bench-press 100kg. Now, I can’t walk’: Lucy’s life with long Covid 5 months ago:
I think one of the first things you’ll be interested to hear is modern definitions of ME/CFS don’t note fatigue as the most disabling symptom but a disease process called post-exertional malaise, wherein a person’s entire disease can worsen (sometimes permanently) based on the amount of energy they use.
It’s really fascinating, A recent study by Wust et al. found muscle clotting and abnormalities following exertion in people with ME/CFS.
Also people with ME are the only known disease group to preform markeldy worse in specific markers on a 2 day CPET. Which would serve as a biomarker if it were not for the fact doing the test can worsen people’s disease permanently.
I highly recommend this summarising article on the issue: nationalgeographic.com/…/long-covid-patients-exer…

If you are genuinely curious, I’d invite you to join a community of Long Covid and ME/CFS patients and researchers online, and ask any questions you have.
