Consider that I know these people very well. Also from experience, they avoid any headaches related to something that potentially runs perpendicular to their stated policies (overseen by HR) of inclusion of people with disabilities, respectful work environment, etc.

It doesn’t matter what I call it. The name is all over the branding, the web domain, documentation, etc. And higher ups - regardless of my own feelings - do have issues with details like those.
It might be different in a startup with people well entrenched in open source, etc., but corporate types are different.

Pity about the name. Even when management or clients have been open to doing things differently, I simply will not risk uttering the name of the software or suggesting we try it out. I think GNU should be respected in the name, but the rest is presumably a joke for immature people. Not a footing I really want to be on when trying to justify something…

That’s a good idea. I see they have a web interface now too at loops.video so getting the URL is easy.
- Comment on Is the best way to share video now by uploading to loops.video first? 5 months ago:
Good question. I don’t think so, because Loops is more like Mastodon (user centered) rather than Lemmy (interest centered).
Dansup posted the details here blog.joinloops.org/loops-joins-the-fediverse/
I never understood how Lemmy <-> Mastodon integration works. But I know that people who follow me on Mastodon got posts on Mastodon by “me” that mirrored my posts on Lemmy.

- Comment on Why do i tip my bartender $2 per drink and per bar food order but 20% when I order food from a waitress? Am I tipping wrong? 7 months ago:
For anyone who mightn’t know, tipping culture is rooted in slavery and exploitation. It existed in Europe to an extent but really spread its wings - like many awful European things - in the USA.
I support workers rights, but I don’t tip. The way I see it, if the place requires tips for their staff to get by, then the staff are being financially abused and I would be propping up a system of exploitation. Prioritise places that pay their staff above the minimum wage.

I would have a shirt with a hole cut in the breast pocket. Then point a phone camera out of it while it records.
A few details: you’ll want a busy pattern on the shirt to make the hole less noticeable. You’ll also want an app that can record without easily being stopped (the default camera on my phone can be interfered with just by moving around inside a pocket).

Thanks. That’s kind of you and I appreciate it. I was being humorous but I did start to wonder if would make a comically gruesome feature for a funeral.
We decided not to get a pet taxidermied in the past for the same reason you mentioned.
Thanks again for being so decent.

I like that one, thanks. I could probably enlist an apprentice serial killer to help with that. Although I’m not sure how I’ll issue him with his certificate.

Never thought of that. We segregate our waste here so there is a bin for compostables.

That is probably the most effective thing that could happen. But if they won’t do it to Israel for committing genocide then I doubt they’d do it for it’s political doppelgänger.

- Comment on Why don't we just gather up all the ocean's trash and all the nonrecyclables, put them in a rocket, and launch it into the sun? 1 year ago:
A rocket could lift 100-150 tonnes of trash. We have about 60 billion tonnes of trash.

I see sellers saying estimated delivery time is mid-2025 if I order now. Should I wait until supply improves? I do want the hardback.

You can only laugh from a place of privilege. Please educated yourself on the Indian Act and progress with existing treaties. Your comment is at odds with the reality in Canada.
