- Comment on Why don't we just gather up all the ocean's trash and all the nonrecyclables, put them in a rocket, and launch it into the sun? 3 weeks ago:
A rocket could lift 100-150 tonnes of trash. We have about 60 billion tonnes of trash.

I see sellers saying estimated delivery time is mid-2025 if I order now. Should I wait until supply improves? I do want the hardback.

The pixelated look is fashionable at the moment. I wonder if that’s the reason.

Oh dear. I’ve just seen your comment history. I don’t think we’ll be agreeing on much. Good luck.

You can only laugh from a place of privilege. Please educated yourself on the Indian Act and progress with existing treaties. Your comment is at odds with the reality in Canada.

The irony of a nation of colonial land thieves complaining about immigration …

I’m not familiar with the franchise so it wouldn’t suit me but I can think of many people I could refer it to. Also since it’s not written by the bigoted woman herself I’d have less resistance to sharing it.

Very interesting and great to get a recommendation someone has tried themselves. Thank you.

Thanks. I’m having a hard time finding something compatible to the Coursera course there. They seem to be focussed on debunking psychics etc. Interesting site, though.

I’m able to find things online. I’m looking for recommendations.

Clearly you aren’t.

There’s no need for the insult. Just because there’s no lower age limit on the internet doesn’t mean we can’t all be adults.
- Comment on How come it seems for the past decades the Catholic Church has been plagued with sex crimes especially among young boys? How long has this been going on? Or did I just miss something up. 2 months ago:
I think that’s generally accepted. I wanted to qualify what I’m saying a bit more by mentioning the lived experience here and the complicity of wider society.

I can only speak for my lifetime and that of my parents, but in my country the church has been revealed to be a child trafficking, child abusing, money laundering, woman enslaving organisation. It has a veneer of pseudo-wholesomeness.
It’s important to recognise that while people rightly expose the church for this, they usually operate with the assistance of the local communities. In Ireland people in the community would report woman who were “impure” in some way, which the church could justify for enslaving them and selling their children if those women gave birth. This is all within the last several decades and I’m sure even before then.
- Comment on Have you ever realized just how broken you are? 3 months ago:
Yes, I can relate. Not only that but it’s more common than you think.
Broken is a good word to describe the feeling, but not the reality. If you can afford it, taking with a good psychotherapist (I would choose a psychodynamic one as opposed to something like CBT), can help you use the unbroken in yourself to heal that feeling and the perspectives that emerge from it.
It’s important because the perspectives that emerge from it create even more unpleasant feelings. It’s like a cascade.

Isn’t xylitol gum recommended though? Maybe I’m using the wrong term.

Would you mind elaborating? No pressure. I spent time there as a kid in the 90s and have a lot of nostalgia for the place, but I haven’t engaged with the place as an adult and I’m way out of touch so I’m genuinely curious.

All talk about websites in the comments, but what about using just an email client and maybe ssh, rsync etc.

Seeming reasonable in the context of the madness of constant growth is still not reasonable. I get what you mean, but we need to demand better of the ultra powerful if we want to see better in our lifetime.
