I loved “the voice” effects of the 84 version. The new “voice” sucked.
Something about the resonating/reversing sound effect of the original felt so cool. Like a nagging command or idea that just bounces around in your head and amplifies with its harmonic frequency until it truly compels the listener.
- Comment on Lutris now being built with Claude AI, developer decides to hide it after backlash 1 week ago:
There’s a difference between using AI to help you code and pure vibe coding. The latter is how you end up with slop, but the former can absolutely speed up skilled developers.
Same is true across the board with AI use. It can easily be a force multiplier for people as long as you don’t turn off your brain and slop away.
- Comment on Lutris now being built with Claude AI, developer decides to hide it after backlash 1 week ago:
I certainly agree with your point on the jerk reaction, but given some of the guttural hate people have for AI, even though I don’t agree with his tactic to deal with it, I can certainly see the frustration.
Using AI to help code doesn’t necessarily mean completely vibe coding.

So with this logic are you also not an artist if you use tools like Photoshop? Do you need to write with pen and paper?
Is writing code in any language other than assembly also cheating?
- Comment on Lutris now being built with Claude AI, developer decides to hide it after backlash 1 week ago:
The AI hate crowd on Lemmy is pretty insufferable. Same folks would be complaining about Cloud tech back in the day.
Know the limits of AI and use it appropriately. Completely shunning AI is just silly.

Then apparently it’s doing its job since you only hear this if you aren’t in the other person’s contact list.
- Comment on Shit, I'd pay $9 4 weeks ago:
iPhones have exactly this. It’s a voice assistant that asks why you’re calling and who you’re trying to reach. You then get a transcript of it and can read it live as it’s being recorded/transcribed.

Excellent summary, and thank you for the bold section on paying credit card interest. I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard that myth.

What’s funny is that if someone said (a*b)c is the same as (cb)*a, you’d probably say “of course it is”.
Same trick here if you show it as (4* 1/100) * 75 rewritten as (75 * 1/100) * 4.

No, that’s a DLC. Second most popular one behind “driving while being a minority”. With that DLC you get pulled over and harassed randomly.

What’s depressing is that I initially read this as “India is a great place to hire child labor”, thought damn that sucks, then realized it said “Indiana”. Not even surprised anymore tbh.

You’re a naive fool if you think democrats have an “open border policy”. Go talk to your right wing business owners and suggest that if we really wanted to stop illegal immigration, we would jail business owners who hire them. Surprise surprise, those right wing owners exploit these people but don’t really want to stop any illegal immigration.

Anytime I hear anything about this movie I remember the hissy fit the lead actress made over the fan edit of the poster. “How dare they erase my face! Racism!”

FYI, you can replace the screen yourself. I’ve replaced the screen and battery on an older iPhone. Bought the parts off Amazon, watched a YouTube video and that’s it. Super tiny screws so it may help if you have a magnifying glass (or one of those magnifying + light units for painting miniatures).

- Comment on Is there an obvious technical reason why the major email services (Outlook, gmail, etc) can't seem to limit recipients' from Replying-All? 1 year ago:
Better than BCC is using a Distribution List with restrictions on who can send to it. Helps see who else got the email, without blowing up with reply-all emails. Obviously this only works in a corporate environment where distribution lists can be restricted.

I disagree, but my understanding is that the Paramount decree ended in 2020, so I guess yay for vertical integration. Allowing this ownership and no restriction makes the situation worse. If I want to watch show/movie X, there’s only ONE platform I can watch it on. Compare that to music and there’s more of a choice.

You mean Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, etc? Production companies owning streaming companies should be as illegal as production companies owning theaters.

Open up catalogs to all streaming platforms like the music industry and maybe there’s a chance. I’m not subscribing to a dozen

Longlegs was a surprising movie. Not incredible, but it was a fun watch. Nick Cage is certainly having fun with some of his recent movies.
