As a reader, that’s definitely why I do condemn overly negative books and other media. Even after reading all horror books available in the library as a teenager. Life’s complicated enough by itself.

EA lost $6 billion in market value
And yet, nothing of value was lost. What a paradox!

Against the Storm!
It comes with pause, so almost turn-based ;) (I’m kidding).

Well they don’t need them to coexist, they need just one of them to succeed.

IMO KotOR was an inspiration for Mass Effect - it may be worth a look.

The “play games” can. Three filters I always use in combination: “Premium” (i.e), “no ads”, “no in-app purchases”. In the current version of the app you have to scroll quite down to find these.
- Comment on Android games 1 month ago:
Actually the official google “play games” app has a nice feature that should be included in play store: it can filter for games without purchases.
Other than that, the mentioned minireview app has good filters.

- Comment on Japan appears to be confused about Christmas 1 month ago:
I believe US doesn’t understand christmas, what’s with the bastardized SAiNT(a) niCoLAUS, dressed in Coca Cola costume, instead of the baby jesus celebration. Eh, anyway, as a frugal agnostic, I don’t care either way.

Well, at least…
In 2017, Shkreli was convicted in federal court on two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy. He was sentenced to seven years in prison and up to $7.4 million in fines. In the civil antitrust case, Shkreli was fined a further $64.6 million to be repaid to victims. In May 2022, he was released early from the low-security federal prison in Allenwood, Pennsylvania. He is permanently banned from serving as an officer of any publicly traded company.

Same. Losing felt quite arbitrary and random to me.
- Comment on Do you have any recommendations for casual games? 2 months ago:
You can’t expect people to understand the acronym of a game you are just introducing :) Google tells me you mean “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild”.

Is Rimworld chill though? It’s been sitting on my waitlist for a while, but I’m still a bit…afraid. Doesn’t each colony ultimately go to shit?

I’m of the impression this is the same dynamics as seen in other competitive appealing activities where almost anybody can join and dream of becoming famous and rich, like starting a band or a YouTube channel, playing sports and - according to Freakonomics - drug dealing. The profit distribution is extremely skewed towards the top, leaving most of the participants with wages well below average.
- Comment on Seasons of the Whale 2 months ago:
Whale fall is a fascinating thing.
A whale fall occurs when the carcass of a whale has fallen onto the ocean floor, typically at a depth greater than 1,000 m, putting them in the bathyal or abyssal zones. On the sea floor, these carcasses can create complex localized ecosystems that supply sustenance to deep-sea organisms for decades.
