The '90s was 30 years ago. In the '90s the '60s were 30 years ago, so I think the analogy holds up
- Comment on Planet Of The Apes [spoilers] 3 months ago:
I assume they only ever watched the awful 2001 version, which has a more faithful ending to the original Planet of the Apes book than the 1968 film. In the book it’s also an alien planet, rather than Earth.
They probably never bothered to watch the 60s film and just assumed that they knew what was happening because the ending is so iconic and has been widely parodied for 50+ years.

I believe OP is referring to the fact that she comes from a billionaire family

Seinfeld is pretty much on his way to becoming a billionaire but they have opposite views on what is a matter of common decency

They have 2 robots so far. I believe they can make it to 5 by next year and the other 995 will just be people in spandex suits like the first time he announced these things
- Comment on Nicolas Cage's new horror movie [Longlegs] debuts with 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating 6 months ago:
Nicholas Cage’s career really has taken an interesting turn over the past decade. And with all the weird stuff surrounding his personal life (buying Madame LaLaurie’s house, the ridiculous stuff he wears) he’s probably our most documentary-worthy living actor

Good spot. My bad OP. Carry on…

500k in the Bay Area is very different to 100k, especially if you have a family. So I think that would make a massive difference in happiness.
I think 5 times any salary affords you greater security, flexibility and opportunities that have to make a measurable difference in how happy you can be
- Comment on The Bill & Ted Trilogy will be released in a most excellent 4K box set by Shout Factory 6 months ago:
I actually liked the third one. I thought the casting of the kids was perfect and the passing of the torch was necessary.
It’s just my most old man take that there are two of these movies and they belong in the '80s

It feels weird that this is now a trilogy. In my mind, there are two Bill and Teds… plus that new one

Quite often it’s a family or household using these services. It’s hard to cancel Netflix/Disney if your kids or partner are using them

Why are they the butt of so many jokes?
A little bit of ageism, but also it feels like they’re fair game since their vote is the most daughter after and politicians bend over backwards to keep them happy.
It’s great that we take care of our elders, but when they get Triple lock pensions guaranteed by both parties while young people are saddled with increasingly higher student loan debts and higher rents/mortgages, resentments build up. They have in many ways voted to fuck the country and youth over the years as well. So it feels more like punching up than punching down

There was a time when a google search would give you relevant results from Reddit, blogs and half a dozen niche forums. In many cases Reddit is the last man standing now
