- Comment on Valve's new hardware will NOT be loss leaders 3 days ago:
Sure, I should have clarified not surprised by the power or the price.
It makes sense that as more and more power becomes available, the price doesn’t necessarily have to increase.
Computers (especially CPUs/GPUs/SOCs etc) are becoming more and more powerful all the time, and more and more efficient all the time. It doesn’t mean that the price of them has to rise.
The fact that it’s 6 times as powerful doesn’t mean it should be more expensive than the most expensive version of the Steam Deck. The fact that it’s 6 times as powerful should be entirely expected.
Hopefully this is a detailed enough comment to clearly explain my thoughts on this.

True, I’d imagine most default settings for most systems would allow a ransomware to happen anyway, since wine can likely access the home folder (and possibly other folders) by default.
- Comment on Valve's new hardware will NOT be loss leaders 4 days ago:
It’s newer hardware in a bigger form factor.
It should be 6x as powerful, that shouldn’t be a surprise.
- Comment on Valve's new hardware will NOT be loss leaders 4 days ago:
True, but it’s also nowhere near $1000.

I believe some people consider elves demons, but they aren’t really “people” or demons, they are their own classification of beings. I believe they are considered a type of humanoid.

That’s rather unfortunate, and probably should be illegal that they won’t patch it (although they’d never be held accountable) although I think the fact that I’m using Linux would likely make an RCE less severe anyway.

Technically there is Call of Duty, just the older ones, which do still have people playing, and you can get bots for them, etc.

Lots of people think that animal means mammal. They are animals, but they are not mammals.

According to statcounter, Linux desktop was over 4% marketshare in April 2025, damn that’s impressive.
We really are getting there.

Well clearly you’re lying or you haven’t been looking, because this is NOT the most popular initiative on ECI.
- Comment on If a girl asks you if you're big, are you supposed to lie or not? 4 weeks ago:
Right but if she asks in the first place, it’s a red flag.
Imagine if the genders were reversed. It’s not a normal question to ask.
- Comment on Once again, looking for PS2 game suggestions! 1 month ago:
Every single one of those games is excellent, but tbh I’d recommend starting with Underground 1 and then going onto Underground 2, they’re both fantastic IMO.

It’s like when developers give a wrong answer during technical interviews, rather than say “I’d have to look it up” or “I’d have to check the documentation” etc.

He’s right, flash media loses data as unplugged flash memory loses charge over time. It’s called charge leakage in flash memory, it’s a well-known phenomenon.
A hard drive might work, but, it would need to be stored in some sort of sealed box to keep it safe.

With cheap routers, bufferbloat is actually more likely to cause a noticeable slowdown with uploading rather than downloading, since your upload is usually much lower it’s much easier to max it out unless you have a powerful router and/or some good QoS rules defined.

I got laid off a few years ago, it also took me 5 months to land a new job. I’m better a couple years later but the first year was a bit scary.
