It’s because deep frying was not very common in the U.S. Immersion in hot fat was considered a French style of cooking, so they’re French style fried potatoes. I think “fries” instead of “frieds” is dialect that caught on nationally in the U.S. in the 70s.

Bright flashes usually indicate a tear. Small ones can just be monitored but if you see a big flash (it’ll be sort of like lightning) and there is no environmental cause, it is an emergency. If you don’t get it repaired, you could go blind. This isn’t medical advice, just what I was told when I was younger. This article is basically WebMD quality, but gives a little more on what to look for.

I got This is the Police a while back but finally installed it. Surprisingly engaging given how it forces you to be a corrupt and shitty cop to survive. Feels like copaganda, but thankfully I can separate fiction from reality.
