Just need to find the time somewhere 😅

Unpopular opinion, but Xbox 360. The first ones didn’t have hdmi, didn’t have a hard drive, the giant power brick was unsightly, the controller has the worst dpad I have ever touched and playing any fighting game on it was a pain, the paid multilayer cancer grew there, the ads in the main menu of the console… And I didn’t get to see the red ring of death since I’ve switched to PS3 as soon as I could afford one.
I know a lot of people have fond memories of it, but for me the 360 represented the worst of the console manufacturers’ greed, milking the consumer to the bone while cheaping out on everything that was possible to cheap out on.

I think Microsoft is right there at the top, with all studios that they’ve acquired.
Curious how EA is sitting on all of the Bullfrog properties and MS on the Lionhead ones

I was almost the opposite, after reading the books I don’t want to return to that world, the first one made it feel dark and bad, but intriguing and full of unknown, second one made it a bit darker, and the third one just made it so dark and depressing, like the Darkest Dungeon, where each step sips your sanity.
It just became massively unappealing, a world of Soviet-style state oppression in a can, without a hope, with no heroes, and where the only way forward is out.

I don’t know, I saw people saying that pro has this addressed (for example this video youtu.be/ojLoP9ddseg) and that some slims have this adjustment as well, but you need to check when it was made I guess pcmag.com/…/sony-updates-ps5-ps5-slim-to-address-…

Hope you don’t keep it vertical, there were videos on YouTube saying that liquid metal in the original models pools at the bottom with time

Oh, I was actually talking about the original Race Driver: Grid, it’s super fun. Got confused by their naming scheme though, I’ve never even played the 2019 one

There was a demo of unreal engine fan remake of NFSU2, maybe try that?

Grid is great! And it had Japanese stages too
- Comment on What was the first game you ever bought ? 2 months ago:
I think it was either Beyond Good and Evil or Guilty Gear Iruca for PC. And then there were psychonauts and Megaman X8, I think all of the were worth it. Guilty Gear Iruca might have been the weakest in the series for me but I had a lot of fun with it too, and it got me to try X2 later.
And the Megaman game was actually my favourite in the series, I liked having lower difficulty with Axel and replayed it a few times, I was surprised to discover that the difficulty changed the ending on my second playthrough. That was such a great time in gaming.

Duke Nukem Land of the babes and Duke Nukem time to kill from PS1 were third person shooters as well

Wouldn’t Tomb Raider be the original?
There is also Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 from the year 2000 that is closer to what you are looking for

- Comment on GOG caught using AI tools, head of product tweeting AI Instagram scams 3 months ago:
PC games were always weird with physical media though, shareware and piracy were prevalent since the 80s. And the physical games were even worse than digital in some regards, with Starforce and Securom rootkit-like drm that crashes modern PCs or Games for Windows Live locking save files (and not even cloud saves, normal local save files) behind online service that is now dead. I resisted making a steam account for as long as I could, but today no one even owns a disc drive, steam just won on convenience
- Comment on GOG caught using AI tools, head of product tweeting AI Instagram scams 3 months ago:
I agree with a lot of this except for destroying physical media. Even consoles went digital, music and movies are digital, I don’t think steam is responsible here

You can just kill everyone in stealth sections so far, and there was no eavesdropping in the missions I’ve done. There are some escort missions, but they give you time and tools to try killing all of the attackers before they even approach

- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About Difficulty and Boss Runbacks 8 months ago:
No, I think if something can be done to allow more people to enjoy the game, then it should not be considered a bad thing to do it. You can not make it accessible to everyone in the world, but if there are time and resources to add accessibility, it should not be neglected.
And I don’t agree with the use of artistic intent as an excuse to not include specific accessibility options: take closed captions for example, they are made to allow deaf and hard of hearing people enjoy the content even when they can’t hear the sound. A lot of media is built on sound being a cornerstone of the experience, and people who will use closed captions will have no notion of it, but does it mean that they should be excluded completely?
Just because people who use the accessibility options will not experience everything in a way the author intended does not mean they should not be experience it at all, and in this day no one really complains about game including captions or colourblind options, but anything that might affect difficulty is, for some reason, out of the question and is only subject to the artist’s vision of it.
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About Difficulty and Boss Runbacks 8 months ago:
Easy mode is not fake accessibility. Celeste has the correct idea in allowing players adjust the difficulty for accessibility purposes. Not everyone has the same reaction speed, same cognitive abilities, same eyesight. There are people who can only use one hand and that automatically makes reacting to attacks many times harder, should they be excluded from being able to enjoy the game because they are not physically capable enough for the boss fights? And boss fights are probably 5% of the game anyway!
