- Comment on Today’s AI can crack second world war Enigma code ‘in short order’, experts say 1 day ago:
What fucking experts! Wow! A thing that was cracked DURING WW2 can also be cracked in 2025? Waow! So impressive! So useful! Amazing!
Fuck off with this tripe. If the solution of how Enigma worked is available on the internet, an AI can eventually bumble it’s way into stealing it, without understanding what it’s doing, by copying those solutions. Potentially. They haven’t done it yet. But in their mind palaces, it would be easy if they power up enough servers to run a full-scale MMO.
I really think one of the biggest reason manager types love AI so much is that it’s easier to throw computation resources at problems, than it is to hire people, because that takes time.

There is no way either side used lead pencils. Saying lead is in pencils is a very outdated thing, it’s all graphite these days.

Are they trying to win an award for the dumbest robot?

So like, it’s forbidden in the same way that modding FF14 is forbidden I assume? Or will the game somehow know I modified my entirely local files?

Hoestly, if you don’t know the game stories, it will be a confusing mess. They take very little time on the movie to explain what is happening and why.

The Warcraft movie wasn’t even bad, they just didn’t go hard enough. It was impossible to cram that whole story into one movie. They shoulda done a Hobbit with it.

- Comment on Baldurs Gate 3 devs tease future non-D&D games, say morale is “super high”: “we're doing our own thing again" 8 months ago:
Good for them. Larian does not need D&D at this point. All the people who liked BG3 aren’t going to shun a new Larian game just because it doesn’t use a D&D setting. Quite the opposite, in fact. Them hyping up their own stuff can only help them keep people interested.
Meanwhile, Wizards can’t generate hype o matter what they do, because they are scared into stasis from the knowledge that they are out of ideas. Heck, a lot of the changes Larian made to the ruleset are things that the people at WotC should have made many years ago. It is very telling that those same people can’t help mentioning the game when they are trying to hype up their new version of 5E. A version that is scared to change anything except tiny details via a focus tested surveys and looks basically identical to the game they delivered ten years ago.

I highly doubt the medical data to do these are available to a hobbyist, or that someone like that would have the know-how to train the AI.
But yea, rare non-bad use of AI. Now we just need to eat the rich to make it a good for humanity. Let’s get to that I say!

In other news, “Overwatch 2” decides to rebrand as “Overwatch” for increased clarity. They really just released it again to be able to change the monetization.
- Comment on Zombie survival game 7 Days To Die version 1.0 is out now after 11 years in early access 9 months ago:
And yet the netcode still sucks balls, to the point where the game becomes unplayable with 3+ people unless you put the time in to make a dedicated server for it.
There were also some very baffling decisions made for 1.0, like how there is now armor with a skill point chance on level up, apparently. Not sure how that one works in practice, but it doesn’t sound like a well thought-out update.
