Jesus Christ, is there any bit of nostalgia left that’s not tainted by those lunatics?
At least I still Harry Potter.

They had been used to help with text recognition for book scanning for more than a decade. It has never been secret, it was explained on them time ago.
This is the logical progression, regardless of your feelings with “AI”

I’m missing something. If the two pizzas were 13, then the sticks + desert were 40? Then tax and service fee on top (40% lol)

- Comment on For a group that considers .world to be Reddit 2.0 and a "CIA propaganda front" they seem to get awfully mad whenever it comes up 5 weeks ago:
All I see is a lemmy.world user being against a genocide, and a lemmings.world denying it.
They’re two different instances, and if anything it proves that lemmy.world isn’t totally like that
That’s the point. The lemmings user complains about denialism while doing it within the same hour.
Defederating is NOT censorship. Giving a larger platform to genocidal and authoritarian instances is bad for everybody. A big selling point of the decentralized nature of Lemmy is to build bridges with most, but also to avoid the most toxic groups. I have ml and hexbear blocked. Until I learned how to do that I was close to leave Lemmy due to the toxicity.

Another example about genocide denying

- Comment on USB-C charging is now mandatory in EU, here's what you need to know - GSMArena.com news 1 month ago:
It does… We have had laws regarding safety in chargers and cables waaaaaaay before USB c existed.
That doesn’t prevent Amazon from selling shit because Amazon doesn’t care. And they were selling shit hdmi, shit rj45 and shit lightning for years.
- Comment on USB-C charging is now mandatory in EU, here's what you need to know - GSMArena.com news 1 month ago:
There’s no original legislation, there’s a specification. And the specification does have “quality” requirements. That some brands do not follow them while announcing them is illegal (to say the least, they are using the branding without permission).
Cheap knockoff usually don’t follow the law…
- Comment on USB-C charging is now mandatory in EU, here's what you need to know - GSMArena.com news 1 month ago:
stores are flooded with subpar cables, adapters and hubs that don’t even adhere to the most basic standards.
This has been the truth before USB-C and applies to all categories (HDMI is one of the most outrageous).
I’m not even sure what the solution is. Million connectors, one for each feature set? Even then you will find 240W rated cables on Amazon that melt with 100W.

The good thing is that it creates a great competition for the privates. I have a very good insurance for 1K a year. No extra payments. Can go as much as I want. Many locations included. For “small” or “quick”, I go to the private one. Saves me time and reduces waiting times for public.
- Comment on ohh ... 2 months ago:
I don’t speak French. Why didn’t she go to the public one? Why was she forced to give birth on the parking? Why not call an ambulance?
Unpopular opinion incoming: I can understand if they didn’t allow her in in a PRIVATE one if she was not covered.
- Comment on ohh ... 2 months ago:
Yes, that’s true. Many countries have subsidies, but especially if it’s a significant one who needs constant care, they can’t cover everything.
Still, likely a rounding error compared with the US if we consider those who become unable to work due to treatable conditions they can’t afford (and their insurance delays, denies and defends)
