Or just fix it with this easy but entirely unreadable command in the terminal. Oh it did not do what I expected, welp you’re on your own now. I want a complete UI so I can move my non technical family members over to it, but the Linux bro’s think it’s fine to have a half functioning UI and just do the rest in the terminal. And yes I know the terminal fix is faster and usually simpler to run, but I can’t explain that to my non technical family members, nor do I want to cosplay as a sysadmin for them.
- Comment on Dutch gamers file €220 million claim against Valve, operator of game platform Steam 1 week ago:
I though that Steam required content parity e.g. you cannot create a cheaper bundle for your own storefront and not sell that exact bundle on Steam. But they have no issue with you generating keys on their platform and either sell those off for cheaper yourself (Humble bundle) or give them away.

It’s not the gamers, it’s a commission and there is a lot of misinformation on their website (it can be viewed in English). gameclaim.consumercompetitionclaims.com
Also tweakers.net a Dutch tech enthusiast website had a good post about it, most of the commenters do not agree with this as well tweakers.net/…/steam-laat-klanten-te-veel-betalen… (Dutch only so you’ll have to use a translator if you want to read it)
People keep forgetting that in the olden days, the left over cut for the publisher was about 40% of the game value, the rest went to warehouse, shipping, and the retailer all got something. The rough estimate left over cut for the developer was 10~15%.
Now a days as a developer you can sell directly to the customer through Steam, and you don’t need a publisher or a network if you only sell on Steam. So that 10~15% cut went to 70% (till x amount of revenue and then it gets lower).
Next to Steam not being a monopoly and Valve providing all the other companies the blueprint for a success in the PC market, none of the competitors follows it, or compare to the customer service of Steam. And it seems that none of those other billion dollar competitors (Microsoft, Amazon and Epic) wants to invest in a solid platform to stand up to Steam.

Not really, Valve has a dominant market position because they have done no moves to against their consumers (although they did mess of a few times in the past) and have always tried to resolve issues. The other companies keep shooting themselves by continuously implementing anti consumer rules, horrific handling of their customers, or just have the worst implementation of their version of a launcher. Their support behind Proton has been a enormous and the main reason why pretty much every game I own works on Linux.
Getting back to the case though, the whole reason Steam has that big of a market share is because they seem to care about their customers, create tools that can be used for non steam games (like the controller adapter layer, or Proton).
So it’s not like the other billion dollar companies can’t, they just won’t create something that comes even close to what Steam is offering in software, hardware and their support behind the products.

Halo hasn’t been Halo since 3, ODST was fun for a short run but it went downhill fast with 4 and anything after.

I gave my old WH1000XM2’s away to family because it was sitting in a drawer after I bought the xm4, both still work like a charm and the xm2 only has a slightly reduced battery even after being used for 6+ hours daily for years. I don’t know what the quality of the newer ones are, but the older ones are build to keep working. The noise-cancelling is the best one on the market for over ear headphones, the Bose ones put pressure on your ears which is really uncomfortable even after a few minutes (at least for me).

Even worse, it’s costing the food places you order from money. We have a lot of restaurants here that will give you free stuff if you do not use Thuisbezorgd which is owned by Just Eat Takeaway. They also own the American Grubhub since 2021 and are also active in the UK, Germany, Canada and the Netherlands.

There was a time when the swastika was not allowed to be shown in games because of a law in Germany, causing Wolfenstein (the uncencored version) to be banned. Maybe the country in question has similar laws?

In the mean time you can check on protondb how much of your steam library is compatible with Linux using this link https://www.protondb.com/profile
- You can either link via the Steam api, or if your profile is public paste your profile link into the input.
- Then select the “By ProtonDB rating” and see how much of your current library is compatible.
Of the 474 games I have most are Gold or higher. 2 are Bronze (crashes often), 2 are Borked and 13 are awaiting more data to be rated. 60 even have native clients.

They have been investing in proton heavily to make games work on Linux, most of my library just work out of the box, some with parameters and a very small amount of my 300+ games do not work. So when are you going to get your GabeCube?

- Comment on Why can ballpoint pens fail permanently when they still have so much ink left? 1 year ago:
The ink can dry out or some contaminant can get on the ball and preventing it from rolling. What I usually do is run the ball along the sole of my shoe (or use anything that has high friction material) 9 times out of 10 it makes the pen work again.

Valve does not limit you in where your game is sold, the publisher of the game has to set this and the publisher for Helldivers 2 is PlayStation Publishing LLC.

Wait, is this the same company that installed a rootkit on your computer when you inserted a genuine bought music cd, or has had their databases breached several times, where plain text user credit card data was stolen and the latest one was not that long ago.
That Sony?
