- Comment on Is it me or does it seem like review bombing on Steam has become so much worse recently? 3 days ago:
Nope, because review bombing doesn’t exist on steam. You have to own the game to review it. A customer leaving a negative review is not review bombing.
- Comment on Emperor of overpromising Peter Molyneux says he's done with games after Masters of Albion, which is also his 'redemption title' 6 days ago:
Molyneaux is of course an extreme case, but I do find it remarkable how many of these “legends” of old utterly failed to replicate their success later down the line. Romero, Mitsoda, Roberts, so many more, all in the lamplight for their success in the 90s to very early 2000s, but utterly unable to live up to their reputation for near 3 decades after.
- Comment on Ghost in the Shell – 1997 Developer Interview - shmuplations.com 1 week ago:
I have vague memories of playing the demo on a friend’s playstation, I think at the time I was kinda disappointed that you only got to play the fuchikoma.
- Comment on Former BioWare lead writer reads the runes on EA-Saudi deal and speculates that 'guns and football' are in, 'gay stuff' is out, and the venerable RPG studio may be for the chop 1 week ago:
Yeah a lot of the comments I have seen are outright bizarre, EA won’t change in any noticeable form. It’s maximum profit extraction now and it will remain maximum profit extraction after.
- Comment on Thank you, Thor! 3 months ago:
Dude had entirely disappeared from my timelines before every youtuber and lemmy poster seemingly felt the need to tell me about how naughty he is.
- Comment on The end of Stop Killing Games [Accursed Farms] 3 months ago:
Yup, I don’t watch his content, but looking at his actual viewership numbers, he doesn’t even remotely have the impact to make or break a petition by himself.
- Comment on [deleted] 3 months ago:
Oh he absolutely was, throughout the 80s King was heavily cocaine and alcohol addicted.
- Comment on As The Outer Worlds 2 hits $80, director says "we don't set the prices for our games" and wishes "everybody could play" Obsidian's new RPG 3 months ago:
Obsidian hasn’t been an indie for at least 7 years now.
- Comment on WoW's Leeroy Jenkins, one of the internet's oldest memes, turns 20 years old—and after looking back on what we wrote in 2005, I feel like we've failed Leeroys everywhere 4 months ago:
Yeah, often learning anything more than the meme itself is that way, if only because you often find out about the rather sad route many of those early viral meme people went down.
- Comment on Playtron wanted to take on Windows and SteamOS with their GameOS, now they're announcing a cryptocurrency 5 months ago:
I suspect they don’t even believe in this themselves, this is just a last ditch attempt at squeezing a little more cash out of dumb investors before declaring bankruptcy eventually. Seeing how one of their investors was Square Enix, that might even work.
- Comment on [deleted] 7 months ago:
I got my first one an hour ago, truly an honor.
- Comment on Sony shows off conceptual immersive gaming tech that lets you stand in a TV box and sniff The Last of Us 8 months ago:
Headlines. This is literally just a marketing thing, just like every other instance of the tech before it. No one is ever actually going to build this for home use
- Comment on GOG reportedly suffering from staff turnover and poor management: “Current business model is likely running out of steam” 9 months ago:
Yeah galaxy is sadly a bit of a mess. Back when i was still running windows it just broke its own update capabilities once or twice.
- Comment on What are some video game quotes that is stuck in your head? 10 months ago:
“For a moment, there was hope.”
- Comment on Hey Sony, Can You Not 10 months ago:
Why’d Sony Interactive take them over? If anything it’d be the Sony group, which is japanese.
- Comment on ‘Unknown 9: Awakening’ Arrives To 200 Steam Players, Poor Reviews 11 months ago:
Same here, and frankly, what kind of title is “Unknown 9: Awakening” supposed to be? That reads like an internal Codename they forgot to change pre-release:
- Comment on What happened to the turn based RPG and RTS genres? 1 year ago:
Much as I love WOTR, hard disagree there. BG 3 is much better in terms of reactivity and consequences, polish, and all of its mechanics work properly. Meanwhile WOTR has the stumps that are 50% of its mythic paths, the not particularly well received crusade mode, and one of the worst dungeons I can remember in rpg history (I will freely admit that this last point is not as objective as the rest of my argument, but I know I am far from alone with this opinion).
- Comment on Does AAAA just mean awful triple A games now? 1 year ago:
An Ubisoft exec described Skull & Bones as the first AAAA game. Given the generally unfavorable reception this game got, “AAAA game” has become an expression of mockery.
- Comment on Today, it has been 6 years since The Elder Scrolls 6 teaser 1 year ago:
Sure, you could, but given beths track record in that regard, why would they? They have been perfectly happy shipping Skyrim to new platforms with the same bugs for nearly a decade.
- Comment on It's incredibly ironic that ChatGPT constantly asks me to verify that I'm not a bot 1 year ago:
I am convinced they use the data from that for AI training
