Is No Man’s Sky still “a mile wide and an inch deep”? What are the basic gameplay loops?
- Comment on Marvel's Midnight Suns is criminally underrated 3 weeks ago:
If you hate XCOM’s PRNG hit percentages, you may want to try or watch Hard West. It has somewhat deterministic luck mechanic, that prevents idiocy that happens in XCOM. The game itself is a bot buggy, though.

Oh, it has Denuvo. I hope they remove it later.

There was something magical about Little Big Adventures.

For the record, the affiliate link is listed here:

Sounds technically just like affiliate linking, even if the browser is embedded.
Just curious if there is a specific deal between Heroic and GOG.

Is this an actual, specific deal with Heroic, or some general affiliate linking thing?

Linux get it together
Who are you making demands to, precisely?

How does GOG support Heroic?

If Steam stops working, you could replace the Steam API with the Goldberg emulator, and an already installed game should work, if there is no other DRM.
But yes, GOG is definitely better.
I just wish GOG Galaxy worked on Linux.
- Comment on Corporate greed is killing RuneScape. What do people play instead? 1 month ago:
I played Albion Online for a while until it was clear it needed a lot of grinding and paying to be able to play properly. Not going back.

This is a fun little game that does not take long to finish. Recommended.

Could you split this into two comments, as per rule 2? It makes it easier to vote and discuss without mixing both.

Thanks for taking the time to write this.
Sounds like you two have had plenty of rough experiences. I hope you’ll find happiness in the things that are good now.
As for sports, have you tried pool swimming (or water running)? Might take some getting used to, but since you are practically weightless when floating in the water, many people with issues find it good for their body.

I hope that retirement is not because of lost health. Either way, I hope you find happiness in life!
- Comment on Final Fantasy XVI is out now on Steam and Epic Games Store 1 month ago:
I have seen this theory floated a few times. The problem is that reading uncompressed files from disk can often be slower than reading less data and decompressing it on the fly efficiently. Would be interesting to see actual studies of this for common game data.

170 GB is insane. Publishers should really get punished for making larger than average deliveries. Most of that size usage usually comes from poor optimization.

Thanks for the Netbird link, wasn’t aware of it.
If I’m not badly mistaken it’s also possible to self host Tailscale. For example:
I haven’t tried either. Probably should at some point, but I haven’t really found a use case yet.
