I think it's closer to a Patreon style model, perhaps?

Sort of interesting that something that was primarily ad-based has transitioned so much towards being paid for by users.
One big question: As revenue models move towards paying customers, what rationale is there for cancelling creators? It used to be "Oh, the advertisers don't like it", but as advertisers are no longer the customers, suddenly you're just driving away paying customers...
