US President Donald Trump on Sunday claimed that Republicans have regained momentum ahead of the upcoming US midterm elections, crediting his campaign rallies for improving the party’s prospects. He also accused Democrats of unfair practices in the Alaska Senate race and criticised ranked-choice voting.
Speaking about the elections, Trump said Republican candidates in states including Ohio, Texas and Nebraska were performing well, despite the historical trend of the president’s party losing seats during midterms.
“First of all, I hear that we’ve turned the whole thing around, and, you know, for whatever reason— presidents don’t win almost never the midterms, and I think we’ve really turned it around. And, you know, I think the rallies have turned it around, frankly, just to be honest, and every senator feels the same way," the US President said.

Trump also raised concerns about Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan’s re-election contest, alleging that the presence of another candidate with a similar name could confuse voters. He said his administration was taking the matter to court.
