…the world.
from a transactional perspective, religious devotees have (depending on their theology) sold their souls into bondage for eternity. and whom got nothing as compensation other than a license to be cruel and seditious.
to understand the experience of a religious fundamentalist is to learn how to disempower them. this is the art of true culture wars.
the religious have studied leftists for decades. which is why these folks can be so effective in the age of information.
lots to be said here. but the main point i want to make is to encourage atheists to not outright dismiss the religious paradigm. by doing so, you are throwing away a true advantage in the fight to dismantle their betrayals.

everyone has seen the world through religious eyes. they just grew up and stopped believing in imaginary friends, santa claus, the tooth fairy, the boogeyman, etc–some people just kept on going with the magical jesus beliefs
the only way to disempower them is to shun them. you can’t reason with people who defenestrate reason and facts that don’t align with their fantasy world. people have been trying to do just that for thousands of years, and here we still are, having to waste time arguing about shit that should have been settled long ago, because people want to hate “other,” and religion makes them feel like their hate is righteous.
fuck religion. i “dismissed the religious paradigm” when i was a kid, and don’t plan on un-dismissing it
