I don't know what the trick is called. But how can I learn how to flip one card out of the deck I am holding up into the air?

  I’d start by looking up some videos of cardistry aerials to see if you can identify a specific method you want to learn. Lots of different types out there with varying degrees of difficulty. This youtube playlist has some examples.
