Why does Seth Meyers take long breaks? I think it would be nice to get paid while the show is on break. But something tells me the staff are not getting paid in the mean time.

  He probably takes breaks for the same reason I do: to refresh and regroup so that he can perform to the standard expected of him.

  I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but his writers tend to produce their own material during some of the time he’s off. So the bigger question is: why doesn’t the entire team take long breaks?

  And the answer is likely that everyone does, but not all at the same time. He’s just the one that’s obvious since he performs “live” every “day”.
