I felt sorry for this happening to someone once. I started a job and he theoretically was in charge of training me, but it quickly became apparent that I was better at the job than he was and that he wasn’t very respected. Shortly thereafter he quit (ironically, perhaps, to fill the absence I had left at my previous job).
A few months later he had an assignment that brought him back to my then-new job’s premises. He tried to arrange lunch with us but no one was interested.

I (almost) literally had this happen once before. Though in their defence, I did sue them for wrongful dismissal and won significant (to me) compensation.
A year or so had passed and I’d had some good friends working there. I was passing by, so figured it wouldn’t hurt to pop in and say hello. Stepped into the workshop, was spotted by the foreman (who was the boss’ son) who told me, in no uncertain terms, to fuck off.
So I fucked off.

I imagine staying away was likely a condition of your settlement

If it was, I wasn’t made aware of it.
