I was always more into the FPS games that came out in the wake of Goldeneye rather than Goldeneye itself, but I’m so excited for this game. I played during the beta test, and though there were netcode problems out the wazoo, when it worked, it was so, so good, proving that this style of FPS isn’t obsolete. In fact, I’d argue we lost some things along the way the more the genre became about precision aiming rather than smart positioning and area control; you can still toggle modern aiming controls in the settings, but I think it’s better the old way.

Man watching the trailer immediately gave me simulator sickness. GoldenEye and PerfectDark always made me nauseous because of the low frame rate and the single analog stick controls. Guess my brain is still traumatized and watching something that looks like GoldenEye triggers it.

Weird, because it’s not low frame rate; though the FOV is pretty tight in this trailer. I’m pretty sure you can pull it out and set the FOV higher if you like. In the meantime, the quick fix (usually) for looking at the trailer is to sit further away from your screen.

I think it’s just placebo. It’s probably because it looks so close to a Rare FPS that my brain expects nausea and I thus get nauseous.
