What they’re really saying is that corporations rely of wage suppression to maximise profits, and the housing and banking sectors rely on decreasing the number of dwellings per capita to accelerate the housing crisis.
If the government actually gave a shit the rate of immigration would be dependent on investment in housing, services, and infra otherwise all they’re doing is driving up the cost of living and reducing quality of life for the existing population.
This bullshit is expected from neoliberal corporate whores.

This is one of Angus Taylors policies. It’s still inaccurate though, because if they really gave a shit they’d just build houses enmass. The amount that goes on building housing - even under the housing Australia future fund, is fairly small compared to say, the military budget for a war we’re not in.

The Coalition and One Nation have proposed migration cuts as part of their housing policy.
Bahahahahaha!
The coalition, who serve their corporate donor overlords first and foremost, will never lower immigration if they get in to government. Look at their track record since John Howard! They must think the electorate is especially stupid to believe they would change their policy.
The real estate industry and big banks wear the coalition like a condom and they like house prices just the way they are thanks. Similarly the rest of big business wants an over supply of workers and consumers.
One nation I don’t doubt wants to lower the intake of certain kinds of immigrants. But underneath they are corporate donor serving conservatives with added racism, so hitting F to doubt they would really lower immigration in the unlikely scenario they got in to government. Also Pauline might want to check Gina’s track record on using cheap outsourced and visa ### labour to build her mines. Maybe she has had a change of tune but I doubt it.

I mean… we have one nation voters… so yeah, there’s a percentage who will go for this.

Immigration numbers aren’t pulled out of a hat. There are a lot of factors like skill shortages, demographics etc taken into account. We could reduce numbers but we would need to do it carefully and plan for the consequences.
One Nation’s concern about immigration is entirely a dog whistle for racial intolerance.
For shits and giggles the govt should announce a return of White Australia policy and doubling the intake and watch ON implode. Of course bringing out 10 bob poms to work in factories is fucking hopeless now we have shut them all down. What are they going to come here for? The skin cancer?
