I figured out the whole situation while watching the first episode because it was an obvious homage if you know the referenced work well and can read the cinematography.
And then in the last episode they use that music. A direct reference. It was like the director reached out of the screen and gave me a good boy pat.
Great artists steal. Even greater ones steal, give credit, and make you complicit in the robbery.
