The fact that she has denied knowing about it, not even questioning where all the extra money was coming from, and the police believed her is laughable.

400k over 12 years. 33k a year.
Year seems huge to most low income families.
But 2 people earning about 150k a year.
10+% annual income. Is less noticeable. I can see why the police did not laugh. Just investigate and Ok for evidence she was directly informed.

Fair, but that’s assuming he took it in even amounts, which some of the purchases suggests he didn’t.
And even with that amount of income, I’ve seen her statement where she says it was all his own money, but frankly I don’t believe her.
If you’re married, you will always have a rough idea about how much money you have in shared and individual accounts, and the idea that one of you can go out and spend £60k+ on a motorhome and another £80k+ on cars without having to discuss the purchase beforehand with your spouse isn’t a reality I’m familiar with.
The other stuff? Sure. But rocking up in a brand new electric car just seems a bit much to me. If my wife turned up with a new motorhome my first question would be “where did you get the money from”.

I mean to be fair, Nicola… You were the leader of a political party during which time your husband stole hundreds of thousands of pounds that benefited your lifestyles. I think it’s fair that the press prints your face in reference to this story.

Exactly. While few of us can honestly claim we would have done better in her situation.
She was the leader of the party. And the theft literally happened under her nose.
Yes we can all understand. She was busy. Not an accountant. And in her own words they were both high earners.
400k over 12 years. 33k a year. Is likely less noticeable then lower income families would have.
But she was the head of the party. And anyone else would expect to be held at least in part responsible. Even if they understand the missing of the actions.
