Today’s game is Smash Bro’s Ultimate. I ended up just buying that Switch 2 off the family member that never uses it, so good news for me. It opens a door I didn’t originally have available, especially since my Switch 1 has basically been dying a very slow and very painful death. The thing was basically half way to being mine anyways, it’s what I’ve been using for things like Animal Crossing.
As for Smash Bros though, it’s been a while since I could play, so I asked my friends to play with me. And we played a few matches.
I decided to mix things up as my usual as a Sephiroth main is good for 1v1, at least for me, but not so great for 1v1v1v1. So I switched to Corrin, which is my other main. Or at least was back in the day.
This got me thinking about how interesting of a concept Smash is. We have all these franchises coming together. It’s not really something I feel we see often. It’s definitely even rare for Nintendo and Sony and Microsoft to all collaborate. It also makes me curious though about what’s next. Just a rerelease of Ultimate seems lazy but also logical. The other option is a full sequel but from the way I hear everyone talk online it sounds like the guy behind it is done and wants nothing more to do with the franchise. So they’d need a new guy. Plus I don’t think they’d be able to renew all those contracts. Who knows though. Maybe it’s not impossible.
I also wanted to talk about the Theater mode. I hate and love this thing. Somehow I can take pretty decent screenshots but the angles are so fucking limiting. Like. Why can’t I go from a low angle Nintendo. Or go from the opposite side of the stage. Being able to rotate the camera 360 rather than 180 would be awesome.
I like the gyroscope controls though. They really make it feel like I’m shooting with a camera which is cool. Which makes things feel a lot more natural to me.
Now that I have a more regular way of playing this that isn’t a Switch 1 with a battery at threat of blowing up and a heatsink oxidizing, it will be nice to hang out with friends again and play this. This game was pretty big to me in school 8 years ago when it released so it will be awesome to play it some more again

I have a 2 now, but yeah, they don’t build them as they used too.
I changed my switch 1’s fan twice, and its backplate. No battery problem for now at least. But I also replaced way too many joy-con sticks and rails.
