Schrodinger’s mines. The minelayers were all destroyed before they were active, there was no evidence of mines at that time. Now there are apparently lost mines, so the US will do a big favour to all their friends by sweeping them up.

So say US ‘officials’. They expected the ceasefire to lead to immediate clearing of mines placed along shipping routes through the straights.
