    But the family of the victim, known as Whitehurst for cultural reasons, have expressed their anger and sadness over the latest punishment.

    I’m not Australian- does this indicate that the original family name was taken from them, the way that the last name X does?

        Thank you! I knew about images, but was not aware of names. I had never seen the phrase “known as _ for cultural reasons,” but that solves it.
