    It was explained that in mirrors, we see ourselves directly and distort our self perception based on our state of mind (beautify or uglify).

    Cameras on the other hand don’t give a shit and show more or less what it is objectively… Unless its user fucks it up in some way.

      We also see ourselves inversed in a mirror, and are more used to that representation of ourselves, which makes it easier to be critical of the true-oriented image from a camera.

      The picture we have of ourselves in the mirror is at odds with the version that others see.

    Most cameras are not properly set up to work like human eyes. Depth of field and focal length matter when representing more realistic proportions. As such, a camera is going to flatten you more 2 Dimensionally, causing you to look fatter than you would otherwise appear to be to other humans.
