It will also have a 'very premuim' experience, possible capable of running PC games as well.

I’m an Xbox owner since forever. Next generation (and sooner if I can) I’m out, PC and linux will be my new home. Sick of Microsoft and big corporate companies.

It’s long du for people to realize this, the whole, “pay a monthly subscription to play with your friends” shtick was to begin with and still is the biggest scam ever existed, but somehow everyone just endured it.

I mean, when you could convert Xbox Live Gold credits to Gamepass and get it for like $60 a year, it was genuinely a great deal. And that lasted for like 4+ years.

When you’re only paying once a year it’s a lot easier to forget about

You might need something to happen in the PC world for this to happen. Right now you are looking at about 5 to 6x the purchase price for a PC vs a console. Not saying I disagree with the sentiment, I get it. But I’m also sick of Nvidia and AMD who are also pretty gross.

If the goal is to build a PC that’s the same performance level as the console in question, even with current ridiculously inflated prices it isn’t nearly that expensive.

PS5 Pro ($699) is an 8-core AMD Zen 2 with 16Gb of RAM (shared with the GPU), a 2TB SSD, and a GPU roughly in line with an RX 9060 XT or RTX 5060TI. Late last year, building a matching PC would have been somewhere in the $1-1.2k range. Today it’s few hundred more due to the RAM shortage.

It’s when you actually want to outperform consoles and push the graphics settings far beyond the optimizations and targets of console games when things start to get expensive fast.

Yeah you are right but I’m not in a hurry, I already have a mini pc for testing, I have good portable pc for gaming (even if I prefer to play on console) that I can start to switch to linux when I will feel comfortable to do so. I’m financially in a good situation, I can save some money for later and keep my Xbox for now (and see what happens with steam machines this year)

I don’t really trust it, to be honest. I have had an xbox from the original to the series X. But for the past 5 or 6 years, they have been extremely radio silent on a future for the brand. They focused completely on gamepass and nothing else. They shut down so many studios. It just feels like its a gamble

They have proven over and over that consumer brands aren’t anything to them. They constantly chase flashy buzzwords and quarterly earnings over improving and fixing their longstanding issues

Agreed. I forgot to mention too that with windows 11 microslop has been prioritizing imaginary gain rather than genuine human work. The whole company feels like it’s a mess, and a drastic shift has occurred. Even compared to a decade ago, it’s drastic. 10 years ago, I thought they were iffy on some of their choices, but they seemed to want to fix windows 10 and the Xbox brand. But it’s only gotten worse now it seems lol

I haven’t had an Xbox since the 360 and Jesus fuck I’m glad I never continued with them. They really just need to get out of the console market at this point, good lord.

Really, a high end Xbox? Who in the sweet hell asked for that?

Is this all some convoluted plan to increase the demand for regular PC’s? After everyone flocks to them once realizing it will be legitimately cheaper and an overall smarter option to get one over the “Xbox OneTwoThree Series XXX Tricky 720 Noseblunt” or whatever the fuck it’s gonna be called?

I have exactly one reason why I own an Xbox One S: Gamestop went out of business in Germany at the exact moment I made plans to buy a cheap 4k BluRay player for my bedroom TV and they sold me one (used) for 60€.

I remember before covid, i thought about buying a xbox, as a cheap media center to play some games maybe. I haven’t had a console since the 360 and didn’t keep up at all. So the new xbox launched and i went to get an older cheaper one. I was absolutely stunned, and felt like the grandma who has to buy his son a nintendo playstation for christmas. I had no idea what’s what, the naming conventions are fucking insane. I didn’t buy one and i’m so glad i didn’t

Yeah I hate their naming conventions with a passion. This article made me go on a 15 minute rant to my gf about how stupid they are.

And now you can’t forget their new system to fuck around with names on. The godforsaken “ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X.” Fucking christ, these names.

I’m sticking with my Switch 2 honestly. I just don’t care about next gen, especially given the rumors.
