All run by US big corpos ready to gather data on everyone, great thanks Kier really the most important thing right now

Are you more worried by American corps “gathering data” rather than the potential for actual, physical misuse of data in the UK? What are the corpos gonna do, advertise to you?
yuumei@feddit.uk 1 month ago
I’m worried about both, but given the execution of people in the US right now, that seems the most worrisome fallout given Farage could be the next PM

While I get that sentiment its becoming clear to me that the corps are increasingly supplying data and inferencing models to governments.
Moving forward the business model for data collection is less about advertising and more about social ‘guidance’. The extreme is Palantid supplying ICE with AI maps and they then knock on doors of immigrants.
But we can expect a lot more creative coercing moving forward. It will affect us all

The UK government won’t stop until every man, woman, and child has a camera pointed at them from bathrooms to bedrooms, 24/7.

Ironic if you’re reading this on a phone or a tablet.

A tiny black sticker over the cameras handles the video concern. Mics are another matter.

Both violent and petty crime is at the lowest point in the history of humanity. At the same time, criminals at number 10 are swapping in and out and getting away with every single thing. How is giving them control of AI facial recognition surveillance supposed to stop them??

Can we maybe one time not expand police overreach?
